Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

Just do the mods on the first page of this thread and turn your Blink into a dumb EVSE. You'll have to use the car's built in timer, but that'll save you from having to replace your EVSE. A friend of mine recently did this. Blink wanted more than $300 just to look at the thing and gave him the...

    Financing a Lease Buyout

I've never done it but from what I understand you should be able to buy out your lease for the cars actual value and not the lease residual when it's time to turn it in.

What's the thing you hate most about your Leaf?

The crappy nav system is by far the worst thing about the car. It seriously detracts from what otherwise would be great driving experience. I still can't believe the radio button on the steering wheel can't be configured to skip the 3 XM preset's when you don't subscribe to XM. That's not the...

San Diego - Current List of Public Charging Stations

Wow, it WORKS! (sort of). I was there last night from about 7 to 7:30. Scanned my Blink card, told it to charge to 100% and plugged in. The screen said I started at 41% (higher than the GOM showed) and it charged for 25 minutes and quit at 90%. I don't know why it didn't go to 100% like I...

New SDG & E Dash Placard for Public Charging

Here's something new and innovative SDG&E could do; open their DCQC to the public! We could use one in San Diego.

    Quick Charge Power shuts down

Have you looked into Kickstarter? Sounds like something that would work there.

Blink changes usage rules on commercial charges

If you sign up for membership using an email address tied to your residential account then it will make you agree to the new residential terms to continue. Simple solution is sign up for a membership using a different email address, that's what I did. That way it doesn't ask you to agree to...

San Diego - Current List of Public Charging Stations

Crap, my bad. You clearly posted about the one in Poway. The one that is not in service is the one on Midway drive. I'm sorry about that. It's this one that's not in service as of 3/17. Walgreens (ChargePro) - 3005 Midway Dr - 1 unit (free) They do look about the same.

San Diego - Current List of Public Charging Stations

Your picture clearly shows the ChargePro lit up, but when I was there on 3/17/2012 it was offline and the manager said it wasn't in service yet. I could have used the charge that night too.

    Surveys

I got a follow-up from the UC Davis survey. The researchers will be in San Diego and meeting with me next week. Anybody else get that follow-up? Anybody have any questions for them?

Random Beep when parked in garage

I've had it happen with my Blink a few times where the car beeps. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the car, but caused by the Blink. I have the LEAF timer set to do 80% all the time. I use the Blink to manage TOU and only charge after 12AM when the rates are lower. I've never spent the time...

    EVproject and Solar install

Lot's of miss information here because of partially correct statements. The main thing to know is that REGARDLESS of whether the electricity comes from your solar panels or the grid, you pay SDG&E for 100% of the EV TOU rate that flows through your EV meter. So that means that by charging...

    Workplace charging policies

I think you're all over-thinking the situation. For the OP, it doesn't matter how many people live outside range and need workplace charging because there's nobody in that situation now. Cars will change and so will range. The LEAF isn't the only electric vehicle. Don't worry about all the...

If not at home, how often are you using Panasonic evse?

I use mine 5 days a week, 8+ hours a day. I'm able to plug in at work so I do. It allows me to always charge to 80% and still drive at freeway speeds to work and home and still have enough electrons to run errands. I took it out of the little bag 9 months ago and it hasn't been back in since...

Charging that Electric Car Could Cost More Than Tank of Gas

This is a just bit off topic, but anybody see the Netflix original series "Lillyhammer"? It takes place in Lillyhammer, Norway. An electric car that I didn't recognize as even being electric is featured pretty prominently as the protagonists main vehicle (and unfortunately, a bit of a joke)...
