No not a very fair comparison, I'm not sure if VAT is payable on leases! I was going off the Nissan UK finance calculator using the op's details to compare to rip off Britain prices. https://tools.nissan.co.uk/finance-calculator/new%20leaf

There are quite a few disgruntled people over here who had their names down for leasing the 2018 Leaf, and from what I've been reading some have withdrawn from the list because of the expensive leases on offer.
In the OP's case zero down & 10K miles it would cost £492 / $655 month for 10K miles

Overall the car looks very good indeed 8-) & I agree about that analog speedometer, It's like something from an 80's budget vehicle. It looks like it's not very easy to read at all and you especially need a good readable speedometer here as all the old style speed cameras are being replaced...
Apart from the ULEZ (ultra low emission zones) being brought in for major towns & cities in the UK where older vehicles will be charged or banned the government doesn't seem to do anything unless it's threatened by the EU courts or the lawyers at Clientearth who took the UK government to court...

This is exactly what I intend to do here in the UK, I've been saving sporadically for just over two years now for a Leaf & another 6/8 months will get me the best deal on a later model Gen 1 Leaf when people will jump for the 2018 model.
Good luck in your quest. :)

I'm seeing prices steadily coming down on used Leafs here but the take up of EV's is still very small especially in my neck o the woods. I see very few on the roads here. although petrol is still around the (equivalent) $7 gallon mark the best selling cars of 2017 are getting great MPG figures...
