is there any way to tell in Leafspy if the car had been sitting around for months at a time with no battery charge?

LeafSpy will also tell you how many high speed vs slower charges were done. For instance my car shows only 12 high capacity charges (chademo level 3) and over a thousand slower charges in its lifetime so far.

is there any way to tell in Leafspy if the car had been sitting around for months at a time with no battery charge?

I bought a 2016 S a month ago. 24kwh battery, 40K miles on it. Almost like new, we love it. Paid $12,200 for it. Try finding one anywhere near that price now, from the northeast where this one lived. LeafSpy shows shows 86.2% SOH (State of Health), I've seen as high as 92 miles on the...

Installing Level 2 at Home (SOOW vs. NM-B) Which one?

Thanks all. Leftie, I like your solution, as usual you the man, thanks. Really don't want to bury anything if I can avoid it. If the J-1772 extension doesn't violate code or add risk shorting risk (I'll waterproof it), that'll work for me for the next year or two until I buy a new long-range...

Installing Level 2 at Home (SOOW vs. NM-B) Which one?

A related question please: I want to install a NEMA 4 outside charger but the nearest 240V position on my house is more than 30 feet from where I park my Leaf. I think that's too far for charging cable. Not to mention a hassle to drag the coupler out there every time (I live in snow country in...

Level 2 charging for 5-7 hours outdoors in the rain

Jjeff, thank you! When I looked at the car I didn’t pay much attention to the chg package. But I did notice on the dash during the test drive that it had the 6.6kw rate and remembered LeftieBiker saying that was a good thing to look for. That was in his Buying Used Leaf Guide (anybody shopping...

Level 2 charging for 5-7 hours outdoors in the rain

Thanks Leftie, was wondering if that meant that lvl 2 would charge the car faster...or is it only CHademo that pulls the 6.6kw?

Level 2 charging for 5-7 hours outdoors in the rain

Thank you both, that really helps. I charged it today for the first time at my local food coop. About 3 hrs at home from a standard plug w/the granny, and 1.6 hrs lvl 2 local station. The OBD says I went from 22% SOC to 88.5%. That surprised me, I was hoping for about 30%. I have the charge...

Level 2 charging for 5-7 hours outdoors in the rain

Hi all, thank you for your comments in this thread. Very helpful for this newbie who just bought his first EV, 2016 S 24Kwh with 40,000 miles and 86% SOH. (Says LeafSpy Pro and Veepeak BLE) We drove it 50 miles from the dealership in Connecticut up to western MA, lots of steep hills but also...

    Shopping for a used LEAF

After way too much obsessing (for a month, jeez!) on balancing desire for all the cool Leaf tech things I wanted with the wife’s desire for a very local, much more affordable Leaf to be used as car no 2 ( very limited range needed for it), we still had to drive an hour and a half south from MA...

    Shopping for a used LEAF

Thanks DaveinOlyWA, yeah, prices are pretty whack now. Following Leftie’s primer on the first page of this thread, 2018 has some problems so I’m staying away and can’t make the jump to a 2019 budget wise so the 17 looks pretty good (once I do the OBD to verify the software update, although at...

    Shopping for a used LEAF

Thanks Driver8, appreciate your take. I've got a couple dealers pitching lease of a '22 SV Plus. I'm still studying the ins and outs of leases vs buying used but I'm sure tempted. I have found a '17 S w/50K miles, a 30Kwh motor, $13K. Off a lease, was sold as CPO to 2nd owner who had it for...

    Shopping for a used LEAF

Thank you goldbrick and LeftieBiker, that fills in the remaining blanks. I'd buy a new or newer used but I don't have much of a tax liability (or budget right now) or I'd for sure go that route. Appreciate you helping this noob out.

    Shopping for a used LEAF

Thanks for that: I live in western Mass, so cold winters/warm to hot and humid summers. the key for the warranty for 2016 or 2017 is 8 years from date of mfg, correct? So if I understood LeftieBiker right, I'd look for a 2016-2017 with a 30kw (Vin number "B") battery that is ready to croak to...

    Shopping for a used LEAF

Hi, I'm shopping for a used Leaf in the $13-16K range. So much info about batteries in particular has me a little overwhelmed. Leftie Biker's Used Leaf guide is really fantastic, but I'm still not sure what the best model year would be for my wife and I. We will use the Leaf as a second car...
