All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

Sorry, I've not been following this thread closely. The imposition of Stage Overnight Points is going to make it difficult for me to finish this rally in time as I was counting on being able to quickly cover Washington and Oregon using the DCFC network then slowly making my way across...

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

I've registered bc2bc.info and am working on pointing it at a page on Google Sites. Happy to point it elsewhere.

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

I really hope those Nissan dealerships can get it together with respect to their DCQC installs. That would make crossing California much more swift: there are dealers in Redding, Chico, Yuba City and throughout the Sacramento area then more down along highway 99.

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

The ranger with whom I spoke upon reserving the Peace Arch Park said that it books out months in advance of Summer due to weddings and such-like. I'll hold the reservation for that date as I have until 29 days prior to cancel for a nominal fee. I guess I was taken in by the title of this thread...

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

We should also consider that for other people who might attend the send-off, having it on the 29th would be much better for attendance. Even in the summer, people have to work. If this is meant to be an exhibition of electric vehicles, a well attended start and finish seem much more important...

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

With two drivers and a steady 60 miles an hour between 30 minute charges, a LEAF could do 1000 miles in 25 hours. This would of course require CHAdeMO along the entire route, which is unlikely by June. Anyway, I'd rather start on the weekend; I have little interest in a half-day at the track...

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

I'm expecting a callback on Saturday with those details. We'll get our money's worth from EV charging: it's 24.7 miles to the first quick charge but I imagine people will want to start off as close to 100% as possible to minimize pack heating.

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

I've taken the liberty of reserving Peace Arch Park in Blaine, Washington. This way, it will be easy for Canadians to come for the send off as they won't technically have to cross the border. There's also a kitchen and indoor seating for 100 people, so any crowd that gathers will have a space to...

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

It's hardly a BC2BC rally if we don't start in Vancouver. I've set that as the starting point on this event listing and at least one of us will begin from that point. I'll get in contact with the Vancouver EVA to coordinate their involvement.

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

I propose that the drivers along this rally coordinate use of chargers by a group in the Waze application and/or the Twitter account BC2BCbyEV The Waze group can only be joined in Seattle where it was created, but can be used anywhere with cellular data service thereafter. Twitter can be...

All EV Rally, BC2BC-2013, 1500 miles from Canada to Mexico

I know this is being organized by LEAF drivers and I'm not entirely opposed to these suggestions for rally checkpoints, but I wonder if other EV drivers would prefer to avoid I-5 and instead take 101 at Grant's Pass; If they're relying on RV hookups then it might be preferable to fully-booked...

    {Seattle/PacNW} 3 Pass Blast: a DCFC "mini-rally" ~250 miles

Hi, i-MiEV driver here. I'm sensitive to the fact that this is close to the range limit of my car. I've got a set of traction tires fitted which will further cut into my range. I presume the turnaround point here will be naturally determined: if I run out of energy on the way up the hill I'll...
