    Thanks Denwood! 8-)

    Water under cargo area floor

I'd just like to report that I have now washed the Leaf and I was none too gentle with the hosepipe when rinsing off. No water penetrated into the luggage compartment! :D

    Water under cargo area floor

Denwood, Thank you for the photograph of the body with the rear light cluster removed, As I said in my earlier post, my 2014 Tekna has water ingress when being hosed off after washing. I eventually discovered how to remove the light cluster without ending up with a pile of shards of shattered...

2011 Leaf damaged by automatic car wash

bitmanEV, I'm in UK too and I've always avoided car washes because their terms of service seem to absolve them of any responsibility whatsoever. It is posted at the entrance to the wash so you cannot deny having the opportunity to read it. I have not used such a machine since I had my last...

Key Fob Battery Replacement = Dead Key

Yes I would do that Stanton, but it's sporadic. If I get in sometimes it comes up with the little symbol, other times it doesn't. The batteries in both of our keys are fairly recent 2032 replacements. Of course the unbranded Oriental rubbish syndrome might apply - it's hard to know when there's...

Key Fob Battery Replacement = Dead Key

Is it reasonable to assume that any fob battery with sufficient power to operate the locking system from, say, 50 feet (15 metres) is good for use to drive the car? It is true to say that the 'face' voltage at the open terminals could be 3 volts and still collapse when loaded, but surely the...

    short life of key-fob battery

Here in UK we have a spate of keyless thefts of cars by the use of cloning devices. If your key is accessible from outside your property (in radio terms) it can be read, cloned, and the device used to open and run your car - BMW, Audi, Nissan, whatever brand. The advice is to keep your key(s) in...

    Water under cargo area floor

My 2014 Tekna also gets a wet floor in the boot/trunk. It doesn't happen with rain when the car is stationary nor does it seem to happen in wet driving, but if I rinse off with a garden hose after washing the car and I am too enthusiastic with where I spray around the tailgate area, water comes...

    Headaches

@MendicantBios2 I'm sorry but the email I had/have for my old friend is now dead. As far as I know he is still around but the only address I have now is a physical one gleaned from Companies House. I have posted an enquiry on a website called www.powerwatch.org.uk It's worth a look anyway.

    Headaches

MendicantBios2, I am also in UK and when I bought my current house I hired an EMI meter through https://www.powerwatch.org.uk/. This was because there is a 132kV power line about 100 metres away and I was concerned about possible EMI. Barely measurable and far below the true sceptics 'safe'...

    Wetness in the car

Mine has a leak into the boot/trunk if a hose is used to rinse it off after washing it. It rarely happens in normal rain though. It appears from under the trim in the panel that forms the rear of the car and saturates the carpet. So far I have been unable to track down where it actually comes in.

    Loud reverse braking

My BMW Z3 has a drum based parking brake as is common on BMWs. It also sticks but only enough to make a 'thud' as I reverse out of my garage. The clue to it being less troublesome may be due to the car being kept in a dry garage integral with the house. Like all BMWs of any age that I have...

    Loud reverse braking

Fair comments gncndad, location added. It is a cool and humid climate, especially in winter. Salt is used on the roads in sub-zero weather but we've had a mild winter thus far this year so not a lot of that. Lately it's been wet, VERY wet!

    Loud reverse braking

Thank you for taking the trouble to post up those pictures Orbiter - very useful. I find that driving with the parking brake partly on for a half mile or so relives the problem for a while. The procedure is actually described in the workshop manual as a method for bedding-in the shoes. It's...
