Can someone give an estimated guess when the epa range will be available? I'm getting more curious by the day. Will it be more than 76 Miles (ford focus electric)...
Ah well, for 15k after incentives, it's a pretty decent car. Might be a bit to small for the average American though:-)
In the narrow cobbled streets of Amsterdam and beyond it works quite well
The 3rd generation Smart ED is coming up to steam. Nr 1000 rolled of the belt recently. They are ramping up production to meet customer demand, according to this article on hybridcars.com :

If the current Leaf would be tested according to the 5cycle test instead of the 2cycle test, what would the EPA range be? To compare the 2012 and the 2013 Leaf, you should test them with the same standards for a clear comparison. Will this happen?
For the 2012 it looks indeed as a 'can but shouldn't'. But you might want to wait for the 2013 specs. It won't be a spectacular change. But with slightly more EPA range, and especially a better (more economical) heater; I'd say, it should be possible.
Any thoughts?
Americans are not very used (yet) to small cars. For me, the Smart it works incredibly well in the city of Amsterdam en still good on the sub urban highways (speed limit in the Netherlands between 62 and 80 mph).
I've got a BMW 1 series as a company car, but drive the electric Smart around town...
