Has anyone had an independent mechanic replace the brake master cylinder??

Using a small vacuum pump, and re-using existing vacuum brake boosters is probably how they should have done it, and then it would have been a repair that could have been in the hundreds of dollars, rather than several thousand dollars. At the previous "routine service", I had asked them to...

Has anyone had an independent mechanic replace the brake master cylinder??

Hi, I bought one of the earliest Nissan Leafs (2011, S/N 000445), and in addition to having rapid failure of the battery pack, it had grabby brakes from the start of the second year. In June, I got Nissan to do "routine maintenance" on it, and it started leaking brake fluid after that. A...

    Post Your Battery Degradation Results

Leafitbe - Rather than trying to get it to drop the 4th bar in just 13 miles left, I thought the "out-of-warranty" program might offer a good opportunity to continue driving and charging your car normally, and still get some assistance. Nissan paid for 75% of my replacement, and 90% of my...

Nissan "Out-of-Warranty" support for battery pack degradation

Hi Everyone, I decided to start a new thread, since it was really hard to find any information on Nissan's "Out-of-Warranty" support on this forum. This mostly applies to 2011 and 2012 model Leaf owners, at least for now. Also, the discussion on all the existing threads implies that...

Nissan Won't Honor Capacity Warranty, Says I Am 4 Days Late. 8 Bars

Hey guys, I'm probably going to start a new thread to publicize this, but you all are talking about it like Nissan is "all or nothing", and that it not the case. My friend and I are early adopters with 2011 Leafs. I lost by 4th bar at 48.4k miles and 66months; my friend lost his at 51.1k...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

A salesperson at my dealership said they are making no effort to sell the Leafs, but take pride that they're moving more (70 per month) than any dealership in the country. They are mostly $99/month leases (with $3k down). At the end of the lease, people just return the cars and lease another...

12 Volt Lead Acid Battery Replacement

The people who have proactively replaced their 12V batteries after 4 or 5 years are on the right track. Or at the very least, done a battery test. I got a call from my wife a month ago that she was stranded, and the Leaf wouldn't start, and was acting flakey (abnormal panel displays; every...

    8 bar battery replacement metrics

Thanks Tim and KeyDiver. Hmmm. I'm surprised Nissan wasn't challenged on this point in the class action settlement. If 70% is really 66% or less, seems like there's ground for pressing a new class action lawsuit? I"m going to open a case with Nissan, and also look into what my options are...

    8 bar battery replacement metrics

Hey Guys, I'm thinking of starting a new thread, but thought I'd run it past the group on this thread first, and see if I could get any insight. Here's the issue: the "battery capacity monitor gauge" (i.e., how many bars of capacity it *says* you have left) is a lot more optimistic than my...

Can your road bike fit inside it?

I have a very large bicycle (25" / 63cm )with aero handle bars - it still fits in. But it requires some care. I only take off the front wheel. I have got a tire stain on the seatback, and a little scratching of the plastic from the chainrings from my early bike rides with the car. Nowadays...

Need pictures of the inside of the Aerovironment EVSE -RS

Thanks again to everyone for their help. I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that the parts arrived Wednesday. I crimped the black wire that goes into the toroid and the black MOV wire into a crimp sleeve, then inserted them into the new terminal block, which completed the repair...

Need pictures of the inside of the Aerovironment EVSE -RS

Actually, the terminal block may be cheap dollar-wise, but it appears to be quite well made, now that I've taken the whole thing apart and examined it under a magnifying glass. It's made of stainless steel and strong plastic. I can understand why you'd want to crank down pretty hard on it to...

Need pictures of the inside of the Aerovironment EVSE -RS

You had no way of knowing that the original installer had stripped the terminal block, or improvised a re-wire with a wire nut, so no apology needed. I knew I could trust you to make it right if there was anything wrong. But this should be quite easy to fix after I get the part. Your price...

Need pictures of the inside of the Aerovironment EVSE -RS

Gary, Thanks confirming the placement of the wires. I was actually only able to find 2 pictures of the inside of the charger, and both had the wiring at the left obscured by coils from the toroid. If you have a link to other pictures that show it, that would be cool, but between your...

Need pictures of the inside of the Aerovironment EVSE -RS

Thanks, these were very helpful. It looks I was on the wrong track. All of the wires to the cover look like they're in a wiring harness bundle. Presumably the empty slot on the top was intended to stay empty. Since MOV's are surge protectors, it makes more sense that it should be wired...
