    Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell

We've all seen Hindenburg burning, didn't explode. Wouldn't it have been 100% hydrogen? I.E. not explosive.

    HVAC (A/C) cuts out

I haven't changed mine, but many here have reported the approved way of replacing the cabin filter is very difficult. Much easier to remove the glove box entirely to get at the filter.

actual selling prices for used 2013 Leafs in SF Bay Area?

Well, I live in the Bay Area and have bought several used cars on Craig's List. If you change the search criteria to include only owner sale cars (no dealers) and go to the middle of the pack of cars left, you see prices about $7k. That is probably pretty close to what actual sales prices are...

2013 Leaf SV losing battery capacity checked with LeafSpy lite

Out of curiosity, I just checked the capacity of my 11 bar, 2013 S, using Alozzy's instructions. Did it exactly as he specified, except drove 60mph, not 50. Got: starting soc=48, ending=23 =>25% used distance=19.9 miles, efficiency=4.6 This gives: (19.9/4.6)x4=17.2 kwh capacity 17.2/21 (usable...

Just purchased a 2013 Leaf S, how did I do?

You didn't actually say it, but I presume you have all 12 capacity bars. If so, you will likely lose the first bar any day now. So assuming it is a 1 bar loser and lived in a hot climate, I'd say you got a so-so deal. Not great, not terrible. First capacity bar usually is gone at 54AHr. If you...

Has anyone installed blind spot sensors on a 1st generation Leaf ?

I suspect you are less than 60 years old. I used to feel the same way. I am now 71 and 1. my vision is not as good 2. my reflexes are slower 3. my muscles are stiffer, making it harder to turn my neck fully and easily in both directions to look back. Also, the Leaf IS much harder to drive in...

Has anyone installed blind spot sensors on a 1st generation Leaf ?

I have added all of those suggested above to my 2013 Leaf S. My opinion, in order of decreasing safety improvement (ie, most bang for buck at the top). I installed these myself. Nissan dealer probably would not install non-Nissan brand equipment. Any car audio shop will install these. 1...

Electrician says an L2 EVSE install is not possible! :(

Actually OP said unit was built in 1990, so unless there was some upgrade, few, if any outlets probably have GFCI units. This tester, currently $6.74 on amazon can used to check for sure which outlets have GFCI if the OP wants to be sure before ordering a Quick-220...

Electrician says an L2 EVSE install is not possible! :(

What this actually means is that one of the 120V outlets used by the Quick 220 has to be wired to a circuit breaker on the (A) side of the panel (across for older panels, diagonal for newer) and the other 120V outlet to a breaker on the (B) side. I have one of these units and it works well...

    New battery for 2011

New battery is about $8500, yes you can get it replaced, but probably not the best use of the $. If you like Leafs, probably better to sell your 2011 and for about the same price, buy a 2015 used Leaf. You cannot switch out the original size battery pack with a newer high capacity pack...

Hi and a few question :)

Hmm, Technically, the "charger" is built into the car, either 3.3kw or 6.6kw. The box you connect up the car to is called EVSE (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment). After a bit you will learn the terminology. In common usage there 3 types of charging L1 (commonly called trickle charging, uses...

Hi and a few question :)

Short answer is No and No. Longer answer, possibly yes but WAY too expensive to be reasonable.

Keep your ODB2 bluetooth adapter in the roadside kit

We have two 2013 Leafs. Both have their OBDII adapters plugged in at all times, have since we got them in 2013. Apparently we lucked out and got some that have low current draw in standby. We have never had a dead 12V battery and the cars have sat w/o being used for over 2 weeks when we went on...

Can this gas WH be replaced with electric?

I considered a heat pump WH to replace our gas unit a year or so ago. Energy costs seemed about the same or even a little lower with the heat pump. BUT... I checked around and repairs for a heat pump unit are relatively frequent (most gas or resistance electric units never need service in their...

How does Park work without a transmission?

I think this would be normal if both front wheels were off the ground. If you turn one wheel, the wheel on the other side should rotate in the opposite direction. If only one wheel off the ground, this does sound like a problem.
