Re: 2013-2014 bar losers and capacity losses

My July 2013 car just lost bar 11 at almost exactly 80,000 miles. I'd been expecting it to go for over a year, so no complaints! So just to clarify ... Does this now make your car a 3-bar Leaf with less than 20 miles of range? Or a 10-bar Leaf with over ~50 miles of range? Edit: I see you're in Sea...

Re: 2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

My 2017 just lost it's 4th bar Is it advisable to get it to the dealer ASAP to start the process? ... or is there a scenario where the bar comes-and-goes for awhile -- i'd hate to take it to them and have them find it's not yet ready for warranty And when it goes there, is there anything i would be...

Re: 2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

That does seem odd. Were there any environmental changes (like more shade somewhere)? This past summer temperature and year was much milder than previous year. Lots of rain, and not many hot days. I garage the Leaf and garage gets into high 80's during the summer months. So less of that this year. ...

Re: 2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Two year update. Two years since I received new 40 kWh replacement battery for my 2016 Leaf SV. According to LeafSpy Pro, I can charge to: 35 kWh AHr = 105 SOH = 91% GIDS = 453 Hx = 109% Odometer 81k miles. I added 10k miles in two years since battery Three year update. Three years since I received...

Re: Tesla's autopilot, on the road

I'm not sure that replacing inattentive drivers with reckless cars is a good solution. ;) Well, in the example I linked, the AEB on the car saved the little girl's life. She was able to get up and cry about it, versus being crushed by the inattentive driver (not sure why she was going that fast in ...

Tesla Model 3 Owner Ignores Warnings, Drives Car Into Floodwater While Using FSD Beta https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a44869591/tesla-model-3-drives-into-flood-fsd/ Driver was an idiot. This is what we're hoping FSD would eventually solve (AEB did reduce the severity of the accident, but would ra...

Re: Hydrogen and FCEVs discussion thread

<Snip> The Italian purchase of hydrogen trains doesn't strike me as a case of "right tool for the job". If the Austrian tests showed that a battery-only train can cover a 224km route (effectively half way across the entire spanish country), then what could ARST possibly need a hydrogen tr...

Re: Hydrogen and FCEVs discussion thread

I don't understand why my old (high school) dream of electric locomotives and PV panels on the roofs of the cars wouldn't work. You'd have a dedicated "battery car" as well. power density. The solar panels takes all day to trickle charge enough energy into the batteries for a 15 minute dr...

Re: Hydrogen and FCEVs discussion thread

Given the population density in Germany I'm surprised that they opted for H2 in the first place - it would be like using H2 instead of electrified rail along the Northeast Corridor. OTOH, Canada, the Great Plains/Rockies and similar areas of low population density and limited electric infrastructur...
