Re: My Leaf Journey

Might be helpful to know which Leaf you're driving, and where you're located. Experiences vary quite a bit based on those 2 factors. For our part, we use our 2019 Leaf SL+ exclusively as an urban corridor runabout in the Denver area, for which it is very well suited. We never worry about range, and ...

Re: April Consumer Reports Ten Top Picks

I have yet to see a review of any EV that focuses on the EV-specific features that we all know are decisive, particularly if you live anywhere that gets snow, e.g. the presence of a heat pump, whether the EVSE is included in the purchase price, etc. I'm not sure if they're just ignorant of the day-t...

Re: 2024 Leaf

Agree. We may not agree on the "right" use case, but I do agree on that much, lol. Edit: On the other hand, the article's use of the phrase "substandard" plug rankles. BS. Less popular? Sure. Substandard? In what sense? Given the abandonment of CCS by GM, Ford and Rivian, I would...

Re: Ford Ditches CCS for Tesla Plug

I disagree. At current prices, the large battery in our Leaf far exceeds any reasonable investment in Powerwalls or other stand-alone storage sized to carry our house for even a few hours. It's roughly 4 Powerwalls worth, and they came with "free" car! Note that we're not giving up our ICE...

Re: Nissan Ariya to be announced for the JDM July 15, 2020

We drove one some time ago. Frankly not that compelling.

First of all, it's just too damn big. Power was just OK. And way too much money for what it is.

Not a good fit for us. Best of luck to them. I'm sure there's others would prefer that size vehicle.

Re: Any V2G or V2H charger available yet for US?

Enphase announced a bidirectional charger earlier this year. I just stumbled across the announcement earlier this week.

Given that we're using their micro inverters, theirs would be an option we'll consider.

That's my understanding as well, you can't combine IQ8 series with the earlier series. I imagine their PLC protocols are different, as the IQ8s are grid-forming, and the prior generations weren't. Considering how much rain and smoke we've had, I'm quite happy with our production. Our billing cycle r...

Glad to hear you got your system fixed. Ours was enabled (Xcel PTO) on May 1. So far quite happy with production. All in all a very good experience. We went with Photon Brothers in the north Denver area. Would recommend them to others. System: 18 REC Alpha Black 400 panels 18 Enphase IQ8A micro inve...

I might add billing and power utility support.

Good starting list.

Re: So, owners what range are you getting ?

We routinely get about 4.3 m/kwh on the dash in the warmer months, and about 3.7 in the winter running winter tires. We do have separate 17" tires for summer and winter on separate wheels. On really cold days we might see 3.2 on the dash in the winter. Overall, we average about 4.0 on the dash ...
