Re: Is it possible to disable/cheat the TPMS?

I also don't have TPMS sensors in our Leaf's winter wheels, and when the TPMS sensors died in the wheels of our other car I didn't replace them, resulting in a constant TPMS light in the dash. Annoying, but not worth $30-40 per wheel for generic replacements to me. Our two current cars are the first...

Re: Limit charge to 80%

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking regarding the camping trip. If you're just bragging that you get to go on a 12 day camping trip, congratulations and I'm jealous. Newer Leafs lack the 80% limit function that some of the first generation cars had. If you're working with a set charging schedule...

Re: Extension cords

1). You can offer to hire and pay a licensed electrician to move the outlet, thereby taking any risk/liability away from the garage owner. It's one thing to say "Hey landlord, do something for me" vs asking for permission to pay someone qualified to do the work. 2). The 120v EVSE that came...

Re: Regen while coasting

Seconding dmacarthur, I have a mental map of the downhills I normally drive on. 1) Some require a bit of "gas" pedal pressure to overcome the natural regen in D mode. My goal is to keep the first regen bubble from lighting without lighting up a second acceleration bubble on the display. 2)...

Re: Heating, seat and steering wheel

I applaud your thoroughness in testing out the seat and steering wheel heaters in Phoenix summer. On the other hand, I have to question your judgement if you're melting in a car in Phoenix summer and you say to yourself "Hmm, I wonder if there's any way, outside of parking this car on the surfa...

Re: need to do weekly 90 mile drive in 2014 S

Are you talking 90 miles total or 180 miles roundtrip? More importantly, is the necessary charging infrastructure available on the route (and destination if it's 180 miles roundtrip), and would charging time fit into your schedule on those days? If so, I think you should be fine and I wouldn't worry...

Re: 2013-2014 bar losers and capacity losses

We have a 2014 SV, which we've owned for 2 years and 10K miles (63,xxx miles when we bought it and just passed 73K miles last weekend). It had 11 bars when we bought it and still has 11 bars. I've never owned a cell phone so haven't bothered with LeafSpy or investigating the SOH further. For our use...

Re: How often do you drive without ECO?

We have a 2014 SV, which we've owned for 2 years and 10K miles. When we test drove the car ECO was on and nearly caused us to get rear-ended when backing out of the owner's driveway onto a busy street, as the car didn't respond the way I expected (i.e., basically no response for most of the pedal tr...

Re: Why do "some groups" bad mouth EVs?

It's just part of the cycle of having something scary, which we'll define as new, different, or (more commonly) completely fabricated to scream at folks about so that those same folks are too distracted to pay attention to real issues in the world. Just off the top of my head we've got: - Migrant ca...

Re: Corrosion potential under the hood [post rodent?]?

I assume by "main area" you mean the motor/inverter and associated bits. Just my opinion here, but even with the underbody covers on a Leaf there is plenty of moisture, dirt, and grime getting to things under the hood when you drive on wet roads. If Nissan didn't plan for this in terms of ...
