Re: Extra Battery, How to Integrate with 24kWh Traction Battery?

Of course the more sensible thing to do is patiently wait until Tesla 3's, Chevy Bolts and Gen 2 Leafs can be bought as cheap used cars. Not to gloat but for those of us lucky enough to live in CO and the Xcel Enery service area that time is now, or last fall. I paid about $10k for my new model S a...

Re: Temporary noise after low speed collision

'Nuisance' codes from the past are common on a OBDII reading. I'd clear the codes and see if any come back in a few days. I don't know for certain on LeafSpy/Leaf but I would assume there is no chronological order to the codes posted. There are various modules that OBDII communicates with and I'd gu...

Re: Is a used Leaf suitable for me?

Congrats! Hope you like yours as much as I am enjoying mine. I'm sure you'll figure out ways to handle your charging. It's a bit more complicated than just driving up to any old gas station but it is sooo worth it every time you drive past a gas station and think 'I remember those, how quaint' ;)

Re: End of Lease Strategies?

...I'd love to know the thought process behind Nissan's 'no discount' policy. Do they really want a glut of used Leafs flooding their 2018 sales market?... I suspect it's a matter of there being a temporary shortage of LEAFs for sale since 2017 production ceased combined with the number of lease ex...

Re: Is a used Leaf suitable for me?

All I can add is that you can check the status of the charger (see whether it is full) on the web using ChargePoint's website. We have a 4 bay charger here at work and I just check it from my PC and if a spot is open I move my car in and start charging. Hopefully you could contact the other folks us...

Re: Hum noise at specific band on 2013 SL, dump it?

Is there any vibration associated with the noise? Vibration at a certain speed can be caused by bad or unbalanced tires. You could try swapping the front/rear wheels to see if that changes the symptoms. Other things to check would be the state of the CV joints and the level and condition of the oil ...

Re: Post Your Battery Degradation Results

Here's mine for discussion: 2017 in SV So. FL Build 4/17 purchased 5/17 ODO 4584 GID 325 91.0% SOH 90% AHr 72.24 392 V Hx 86.54 39 QC/152 L1-L2 Temp always 6 bars Mostly around town, few 80mi trips Steve That's interesting. If you multiply the AHr by the voltage it comes out to 28kWh, which is no w...

Re: 2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

You are aware that people have been electrifying ICE cars for years? I would assume it is much harder to add an electric motor, batteries and controls to a former ICE car than to just replace a battery pack with known voltage and current requirements and an already existing plug, charging port, cont...

Re: Is SOH in Leaf Spy affected by temperature? (Mine seems low)

Leafspy reads what your pack is now That answers my question. I guess I was wondering if the BMS or LeafSpy accounted for the temperature of the battery pack and used that to calculate some sort of 'normalized' capacity. Sounds like the answer is no. I'll try to do some measurements in the future w...

Re: 2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I wonder if someone will have made a 3rd party 18650-cell based (with active TMS) replacement pack by before the 8y 100k warranty elapses? That is certainly possible. Who knows what the cost of an 18650 will be in 5 years? Since removing the battery pack on a Leaf is so simple, it should be easy fo...
