Why not try the drill fix again? My volume knob is still working perfectly. If it starts giving me trouble again, I will give it another spin. It's so easy and cheap.

I am ready to push the axle back. It seems that the wheel should be turned so I can better see the hub area to be lubed but I hesitate to push the axle with the wheel at an angle. Also what about turning the wheel while on the jack? TY

I am replacing the old axle nut with a new one which will not be staked. I will torque it to 135 lb. I am seriously considering using red Loctite to help secure the nut. I've used it in the past to secure nuts and it always worked. Even though Loctite red is supposed to be permanent, no epoxied...
