Any thoughts on adding camber bolts?

Lots of sportier cars have a degree or two of camber from the factory so I don't think tire wear should be excessive. Especially if the outside shoulders are getting worn now in hard cornering (mine do). You'll find not every alignment shop will do custom alignments. Many chain ones just follow...

    Autocrossing the LEAF

Thanks for the suggestions, Well here's the next part, actually 18x8 (yes a bit heavier than 17s) with summer tires. Summer tires with some quite stiff sidewalls and some pretty loud tread pattern... (I'm just incrementally ruining the comfort aspects of this car) I put camber bolts on my...

    Making a LEAF ... GT?

Nice wheels make a car so much better... Sport Edition P2 in Anthracite color. 18x8, +38mm offset. They do look great but the offset should have been larger. There's some torque steer to watch out for now especially on bumpy roads. Also the ride is worse, partly because of the tires...

    Autocrossing the LEAF

The Plus also has a higher ride height, I guess to keep the ground clearance the same despite a taller battery. The usual answer is a stiffer suspension especially in roll. So anti-roll bars like the Ultra Racing one for the Juke would help. Then lowering springs or coilovers to replace the...

    Autocrossing the LEAF

This was my feeling as well. It's relatively small and light for an EV, and cornering is more important than power in autocross so the LEAF shouldn't be terrible.

    Autocrossing the LEAF

Took my ZE1 to an autocross last week with the Ultra Racing rear anti-roll bar and down worn Continental DWS06 all season tires. It was.... mediocre at best. It's easy enough to drive but even with the anti-roll bar the suspension is too soft. Lots of dive under hard braking, squat when...

Wheels, tires and range -- what works best?

I occasionally shop for new wheels but haven't found anything affordable that I like yet. I'd stick with 17 or size up to 18 for sharper steering response and personal styling preference although they'll be generally heavier than 16s. On the one hand the car weighs 3500lbs so what's another 52...

    Tire time! What’s eveyone using?

I sold the Michelin Energy Savers after 1,000mi and swapped in Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06. Much better steering response and confidence and probably grip too since they "Ultra High Performance All Season." Range is still 150mi or more so, whatever. Happy with them but they're approaching...

    EV Registration Fees

My state, Maryland, just instituted a $250 biannual ($125/yr) registration surcharge for EVs and $200 ($100/yr) for PHEVs. It's to offset lack of revenue from gasoline taxes used for road maintenance. Gas tax in Maryland is 46 cents a gallon so $125 would be 272 gallons of gas. That's the...

    Exterior Styling Mods

Yeah I realized I don't like the small wheel arches and also that many taller cars hide this with black trim on the fenders. Especially Subarus, for example.i haven't found any product that would fit the wheel arch curve well and be decent quality. (Cheap stuff off Amazon is basically adhesive foam)

    Exterior Styling Mods

Does this Photoshop look better than the stock ZE1 LEAF? There are a lot of things to like about the LEAF but in my opinion exterior styling is not one of them. Tall greenhouse, small wheel arches, long front overhang, etc. I think this modification above is totally doable with vinyl, wheels...

    Young Driver / ECO Lockout

If you're willing to be mean to the clutch on an AWD car, the WRX has to be faster... it's just that most people aren't willing to do that most of the time. Just saying.

Comparison: Why I Chose a Nissan Leaf Plus over a Tesla Model 3

I I haven't found that to be true in my area (Mid Atlantic, US). On 25mi commute (if I ever need to) there are four well-rated Chademo plug stations and another about a mile from my home. One is a Nissan dealership but three are at Hyundai dealers. They must be trying to attract LEAF customers...

Comparison: Why I Chose a Nissan Leaf Plus over a Tesla Model 3

I'm planning a road trip on ABRP. Without a range restriction (aka "Lucid Air GT") it's a 3:40 trip. With a 62kWh LEAF it's 4:00 and with my 40kWh LEAF it's 4:40. I mean an extra hour charging isn't bad for the...uh... $87,000 difference. Maybe the Lucid is a bit more quick and stylish....erm...

    Now I'm getting nervous...

I would want a 2x margin on my regular 50mi a day commute even in winter at highway speed so 149mi is perfect. Or at least 1.5x so I can return to work and when something is on fire or return home to fetch something I forgot, etc. Or just forget to charge my car and make it to work. I can figure...

    Telematics Should I Disable It?

How about on a ZE1 40kW LEAF? Can I just pull the telematics fuse if I don't want this transmitting data? Which fuse is it and are there any side-effects besides the telematics not working? (other infotainment issues, annoying warnings, etc). I know it still works, I just don't want it to work...

    Ultra Racing Rear Sway Bar

I found the Ultra one for about $250. It's been a week and I've nothing weird to report. I think it's possible to get a tiny bit of lift-off oversteer but it's a pretty long car and the stability control should help catch that anyway.

Comparison: Why I Chose a Nissan Leaf Plus over a Tesla Model 3

The 40kWh LEAF had the battery I need in a 50mi/day commuter car with plenty of margin and pretty decent acceleration. A larger battery would just stay over 80% SOC always except for rare road trips, and it's more expensive, 300 lbs heavier, and has a larger CO2 footprint and longer break-even...

    Ultra Racing Rear Sway Bar

Just installed this Ultra Racing AR19-474 on my 2022 40kWh LEAF. Thanks for the video Dala! The handling improvement is obvious; less body roll means higher cornering limit, quicker turn-in response and more agile transitions. Not sure about balance at the limit under cornering/braking yet, need...
