    Upgraded EVSE for Sale

I have an upgraded EVSE unit as shown here: http://evseupgrade.com/?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=3 that I did not return with my LEAF when the lease expired. It uses the L6-30 connector for 240v and I have the adapter for 120v. $175 plus shipping. Send me a private message if...

    Official Mercedes B-class EV thread

First off. You are clearly more of an expert in this area than I am. I am merely approaching the question from a logic standpoint. Definitely, logical. Why bother with a CHAdeMO port if I can use a Tesla SC for free? Well, for one thing, in many areas there are a lot more CHAdeMO stations than...

Hmmm this sounds risky on cars that aren't designed for QC. From your posting about JdeMO on the Tesla site, I must assume the RAV4 EV has a Tesla SC port on it. If RAV4 EV does have Tesla SC, then the battery charge controller and surrounding electrical components wil have the correct...

Not sure there is enough room for a CHAdeMO in that tiny gas cap area, while the FrankenPlug would fit, it would still be tight. They'll have to move the port, enlarge the gas cap area, or add a new door someplace. I guess we'll see when the 2015 comes out. More importantly the CHAdeMO...

Horrible experience with Aerovironment EV charging network

But the fob has worked both times for me, without calling them, including a few months ago. Maybe b/c I enrolled when the system first came out? Weird. I just assumed that's the way it worked for everybody else. I guess there is a bug in their billing system, but I will not be complaining...

Horrible experience with Aerovironment EV charging network

Not sure where you got your information but they most certainly do have pay-as-you-go or at least their website says so and it works for me. They call it "pay per session" (2/3 of the way down on the left side of their home page http://evsolutions.avinc.com/services/subscriber_network). I...

Yes no timer, you plug it in and it starts charging. Since I have to buy a new EVSE anyway (only have a 3.3kW for my LEAF), when my B-Class shows up I plan to use the timer on the Siemens VersiCharge.

Called two different Kia dealers in the PDX area last Friday. Both said that the Soul EV would initially be sold only in California and wouldn't be in Oregon for another 6 months.

Level 1 charger efficiency calculations - I ran the math

GP. Somehow I my mind got hooked in on Inverter (DC->AC which the motor uses) and not the rectifier (AC->DC) which is used for charging. But the efficiency numbers are still similar. While low-voltage rectifiers are low efficiency (<85%), efficiency does improve with voltage so it is still...

Level 1 charger efficiency calculations - I ran the math

While I think your calculation is close, I believe it is little high for a L1 EVSE. There are a number of sources of error for your calculation. 1. I assume you are using GIDs to get that 52.5% number of how 'full' your battery is. GIDs are the only units that are going to give you the...

Without the range extender the B-Class only gets 2-5more miles (depending on your driving habits), according to a couple of folks on the B-Class forum they are beating the EPA estimate soundly. With the range extender the B-Class has 15-20 more miles (again depending on you driving habits)...

    Official Mercedes B-class EV thread

Well if you can get 110mi in a LEAF then you can easily get 130 in a B-Class, probably 140. Comfort is the same but the faux-leather seats are MUCH BETTER than the cloth crap in the LEAF. Mine are covered in stains even though I clean the car regularly. People seem to love to spill things in...

Broke down and bought a second ICE car.

We have the exact same setup, Impreza for long trips and snow conditions, LEAF for daily driving. The nice thing about the Impreza is that it gets 35mpg on the highway, which is pretty amazing for a AWD.

To be honest I'm not sure, I just heard: "I never saw that $7500" or something along those lines from more than one EV owner.

Interesting. I think it depends on your individual tax situation. I have several friends who did not get their full EV tax credit due to the AMT, so I don't think you can flatly say that this tax credit is not affected by AMT. The AMT is designed to ensure that people who have lots of...

    Official Mercedes B-class EV thread

Right now yes..unless I can get the $7500 tax credit off the price of the car on a loan. It does change the calculus, but not enough for me. Given the speed of change in the technology, I'm sure I'll want a new car in no more than 3yrs. One could always do a car loan and sell it early, but in...

The base price is $41.5, mine will cost $47.5 with range extender, premium pkg, and a couple of other options (regen paddles, rear camera, premium color). Pretty much, but I'm not complaining. There was a hefty destination charge which is what I expect for being an earlier buyer. No room for...
