Can you use a 2000W inverter for powering tools?

Get one rated for several times the rated current of tool. Motors tend to pull around 5-6x the continuous rated current on the rating label when starting. If your tool is rated for 5A and you get an inverter rated for 6A max., it is likely that the self-protection circuitry in the inverter will...

three phase output voltage and frequency adjustments

Running the three output phases in-phase to make a single-phase output would not damage the inverter. As I stated earlier, one would need to add an isolating inductor on each output to take care of the minor differences in timing and voltage that inevitably exist between the three output stages...

Is there an app for the Chevy Bolt like Leaf Spy

Thanks for the suggestion. I already have Torque installed for working on my Xterra.

three phase output voltage and frequency adjustments

Based on doing R&D work on industrial three-phase inverters for over 25 years, the answer is Yes and possibly No. The inverter can be reprogrammed to output any combination of voltage and frequency. The challenge is that the output of the inverter in the Leaf may or may or may not include an...

Is there an app for the Chevy Bolt like Leaf Spy

Is there an app for the Chevy Bolt like Leaf Spy that can be used to monitor the health of the battery? I am likely to be getting a Chevy Bolt since with my job change, my 2011 Leaf barely has enough range to get to work and back. Any side trip for groceries, etc. would require looking for a...

Battery capacity display when charged to 80%

I have owned my 2011 Leaf for the last 3 years. When I have set it to charge to 80%, the inner battery capacity indicator shows 10 bars. In this last week, this display has dropped to 9 bars. Is this a sign of battery degradation? Is this normal? The outer battery capacity indicator is at 10...

2011 LEAF pulling slightly to left under acceleration

I rechecked the bushings on the lower control arms again about a month ago and found that they were clearly deteriorating. When looking for replacement LCAs, I noticed that the same part is used on the Juke. Checking on some of the Juke forums, I found a number of threads discussing similar...

    Intermittent steering shimmy

I replaced the lower control arms on my 2011 Leaf in November 2021 with AC Delco parts. I think it had around 78k miles at the time. I have been experiencing a pulling to the left under acceleration, then straightening when backing off on the accelerator. I just checked today and the two rubber...

SHENZHEN FACTORY TECHNOLOGY battery packs- is it real?

Do you only sell 40 kWh Leaf batteries if you install them, or do you ship your batteries? Is the battery swap something that can be DIY'd? I have done pretty extensive work on my other cars and am quite familiar with working with high voltages and currents from my workplaces (800-1200 VDC, 1200 A).

    Mod for cooling compressor?

I am in Houston. Most of my driving is at low speeds, including some stop-and-go. I have not noticed the AC compressor stop working. As has been suggested, check the refrigerant level.

2011 LEAF pulling slightly to left under acceleration

I was finally able to get some time to get under my Leaf and look at the suspension bushings. The front lower control arms all looked okay. They had been replaced about a year and half ago. What I found was the bushings for the Rear Suspension Beam looked cracked and worn out. I called Courtesy...

2011 LEAF pulling slightly to left under acceleration

Thanks for your responses. I forgot to mention that the TPMS alert indicator came on recently with the recent change in temperature here. I will air up and see if the issue goes away. Hopefully, that is all it is. By the way, I am at around 85,000 miles and don't hear any clunking from the...

2011 LEAF pulling slightly to left under acceleration

I noticed yesterday that when accelerating at speeds over about 20 mph, up to 60 mph, my 2011 LEAF pulls slightly to the left. When the accelerator pedal is released, it pulls to the right by about the same amount. It takes a correction of 2-3 degrees on the steering wheel to keep it going...

Clunk / bang when reversing in AM (gen 1)

I have been thinking about it some more since the clunking triggers my OCD side ;-) If I buy the whole strut assembly, say from Rock Auto and I find that they look like the photos in your post you made earlier in this thread (8th post on page 4), I could return them and "take another roll of...

Clunk / bang when reversing in AM (gen 1)

I had thought about doing this. It seems that it would be most of the work of actually replacing the strut and or the strut mounts and bearings without spending the money on the parts. If I were to do that much work, it seems that it would be worth it to spend some money on parts and have a...

Clunk / bang when reversing in AM (gen 1)

Thanks for your feedback. I may still do the fix when I have some of the other projects taken care of. Initially, I had replaced the lower control arms and found the rubber bushings in them cracked. The other suspension and steering joints looked good and tight at that time.

Upgrade for weak windshield washer jet pattern

I purchased my 2011 Leaf from a friend this past August 2021. One of the deficiencies in the vehicle I noticed was the front windshield washer jets would spray only on the bottom 1/3 of the windshield. I found this one other thread discussing the issue...

Clunk / bang when reversing in AM (gen 1)

I measured the gap between the spring coils and found that the "hooks" on the spring compressors available for purchase and to borrow from my local auto parts store will fit between the coils. Other than making noise, is this issue a safety concern? If it is not a safety issue, I may consider...

Clunk / bang when reversing in AM (gen 1)

Thanks, goodbar and nlspace for your replies. It seems that my choices are: 1) Swap out the whole strut assembly with the KYB assemblies for about $265 + shipping & taxes from Rock Auto and take my chances with the mounts going bad again. If the KYB strut mounts go bad, I would have to...

Clunk / bang when reversing in AM (gen 1)

Hey Goodbar Thanks for posting this thread with so much useful information. Am I correct in thinking you swapped out only the strut mounts and bearings and kept the original strut, springs etc? Do you think swapping the whole strut assembly for one from KYB with springs, mounts, bearing etc...
