    Drained the 12v to 4.8v!

Hey thanks everyone for the tips. I needed to get something in stock locally this morning to get the Leaf back in service without delay so I ended up grabbing an Everstart MAXX 51R at Walmart. Avoid WM like the plague but make an exception for those Everstart MAXX batteries which are pretty...

    Drained the 12v to 4.8v!

I admit it, have always had a little confusion shutting down the Leaf (I think it's off but it's not), after 5+ years I finally left it on overnight and drained the battery. Wife went to start the car the next afternoon and everything was stone dead. So I grabbed my 4amp Battery Tender and...

    Nissan Apps for Android

I own a 2019 Leaf and am just getting around to getting a phone app set up. I tried to set up NissanConnect EV & Services but got a message saying it was no longer supported. Then I tried MyNissan but got an email saying the vehicle registration I submitted was not legible. I was going to...

    any advice on tire replacement?

My 2019 Leaf is about due for new tires (only 17,000 miles but treads are getting pretty worn). Any recommendations regarding new tires? Looking for an all season radial, ideally something that handles reasonably well in snow/ice (I'm in Maine). Biggest criteria is safety/handling, followed by...

Level 2 charger and rooftop solar

I'm not sure of the specific reason but I know research has shown that a greater percentage of electricity is wasted when charging with L1.

Level 2 charger and rooftop solar

Level 1 is so inefficient I think I won't even consider that for home. A lower amp Level 2 is probably the way to go. The Grizzl-e can do 16 or 24 amps. I'm sure I could charge at 16 amps most sunny days between 10-2.

Level 2 charger and rooftop solar

I bought a Leaf in 2019 and have been using the Nissan-supplied level 2 charger which is mounted in a shed and supplied with a 40A 240V dedicated circuit. Works great so far. My house has a grid-tied rooftop solar system with battery backup. I've never tried charging when the grid is down but...

    First cold weather "near-fail" experience

I have LeafSpy and a dongle but haven't used it to check SoC yet. Sounds like I probably could've made it to my destination, which was maybe 5 miles up the road when the LBWL came on. But that was a first for me and I didn't want to take a chance, not knowing how much range I had left. Had a...

    First cold weather "near-fail" experience

This is my first winter with the Leaf. I read that cold weather reduces range, especially if you run the heat. Yesterday I decided to try a 104-mile trip. It was fairly cold, dropping from 20 to 10 degrees during the time I was travelling. The battery was fully topped off when I left (this is...

Is this the right OBDII device to use with LeafSpy?

Thanks. The Amazon product details are confusing--at first it says it's just for iPhone, but elsewhere as Leftie pointed out it says it will work with a newer Android. I presume it's totally safe to plug this thing into the leaf and run a test? The wrong OBDII won't damage the Leaf, right?

Is this the right OBDII device to use with LeafSpy?

I purchased LeafSpy for Android, and have purchased an LELink OBDII diagnostic interface device to plug in to my 2019 Leaf (https://www.amazon.com/LELink-Bluetooth-Energy-OBD-II-Diagnostic/dp/B00QJRYMFC). Can anyone confirm that this particular device will work? Just wanted to be sure I have...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

I actually ended up installing one of these Leviton L14-50 surface mount outlets: I had some leftover 4 gauge MC cable, so used that to make the run to a 40W circuit breaker. Thanks for the explanation about JuiceBox features. I was looking at a similar Siemens product. Maybe down the road...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

S Model. $33K included all the taxes and fees. Out of pocket for us after all rebates/credits should be about $18K. Thanks for the tip. This weekend I'm planning to install a dedicated 40A circuit in my shed with one of these: Will use the stock Nissan charger that came with the car for...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

So far I'm impressed. Still getting to know all the controls and settings. The last new car we bought was 20 years ago almost to the day (Subaru Legacy Brighton--got 14 years out of her!), things sure have gotten a lot more complex. Good for you--I self-installed too. It was a lot to take on...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

Brought home a new 2019 Leaf yesterday. My wife and I have been considering this move for a while, test drove one in June, but decided to hold off on buying until the state (Maine) finalized their new incentives/rebates (our former governor, who left office after 8 long years in January, vetoed...
