IIRC the problem was that the fuel tank was pierced in the sedans - but not the station wagons - by some metal part driven into it in a rear-end collision. The shield to prevent this in sedans would have cost several dollars, and Ford elected not to install it...

There's one like that near us too, and the LEAF got me past the second light more than, um, once or so. Since turning it back in at lease-end, it's a lot harder to launch my older 5-speed Corolla to do that without making a racket from wheelspin :-)

That was certainly our experience with our '14 LEAF built in 1/14. After 21,000 miles in Asheville we were down to 18.4 kWh and 53.25 AHr. I sure expected better in our relatively-moderate climate...

Maybe the writer was trying for a mashup of "competitive" and "relevant"? :-)

The buyout was $16024. It has 21,000+ miles, the original tires and 11 bars. Last fall, the leasing dealer accidentally sent me an ad intended for owners rather than lessees, telling me the Black Book value was $7475 but they'd offer me up to $8970 as a trade-in. Well, I found our 2014 SL for sale after we turned it in at lease-end. It's being offered at $11,990 at the dealer in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio - VIN ends in 331649.

Charging my '14 SL with the heat on and an outside temp of 42F, Leaf Spy showed a power draw for the A/C but not the heater. Finally dawned on me that the "A/C" power was actually for the heat pump. Guess it'd be nitpicking to wonder if, in that circumstance, the "A/C" column label could be...

Pretty sure that's done to melt any ice which might've formed in the evaporator. Once it ices up the amount of cooling really drops off... perhaps that's what is happening here. Might the drain line be partially plugged?
