Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

I remember there was voltage from the Power pin, not the sensor pin. My guess was that power went into the sensor and based on the sensor's reaction to light, would give a modified signal (voltage?) back to the sensor pin which the BCM would interpret. As I recall I also mistakenly swapped...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

In one of the posts on page 1, I stated that I found another software switch. The description of this is under page BCS-59 of the service manual. Jim, who wrote LeafSpy Pro helped me by having him test various subroutines in an attempt to activate auto lights. So, even with all the hardware...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

If you have LeafSpy Pro already, go to the support links and contact the creator of the app. He said he would incorporate the final Auto switch function in the next rev of the program. He may work it out with you to beta test the program with this feature.

Advice for installing Level 2 station at the house

My car doesn't go in the garage, so my L2 EVSE needs to be secured so that no one can randomly use the charger without my permission. Here's how I did it: Untitled by tk_1971, on Flickr Untitled by tk_1971, on Flickr I cut a slot in the electrical box housing the 110v 20A plug and the 220v...

DAMMIT! NO auto-dimming mirror on 2017 SV

I thought I read from this forum that the map light has a ignition 12v that has a delay on it. If that's true then connect your mirror to that. If the Homelink mirror remembers your remote's programming then you can connect both ign and batt 12v to this 12v with delay. I think it was the dash...

Parked next to a new Bolt today....

Yep, on the forums, I'm actually one of the first if not THE first to install a Curt hitch on my Bolt. Untitled by tk_1971, on Flickr There's this whole thread or two about how low the Curt hitch receiver was (about 7" from the ground). I ended up having a welder modify it to get it higher...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

I don't know. The wife drives the car mostly, so I'll ask her and report back. Ok, she says the instrument lights dim like it normally does when the headlights are turned on. Whatever setting it's set to. Doesn't appear to have "active" / varying dimming like with some other cars.

DEI 545t nite-lite auto headlight module

I figured out Automatic Headlights using OEM hardware (signal stalk aka combination switch and optical sensor). Besides the hardware there is a software component to this. The Auto Headlight function needs to be turned on and the settings need to be set. Here's the thread...

Advice on '15 Leaf S - Phoenix AZ

I don't think my iPhone can beat that. For a short commute there's no better used EV deal than a Leaf (IMO). I've seen 2011's with 35k miles selling around the $6k price point. With a L2 ESVE a 40 mile round trip is completely manageable, even with up to 35% of battery degradation.

DIY: Sentra lighted mirror sun visor install

So there's only a constant 12v up there at the map light? No ignition 12v? Thanks.

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

Here are some final pictures of the install. Please note that on the back of the sensor there is a "3" molded on it which I mistakenly took for a label to pin #3. This is incorrect, as that is actually pin #1, which connects to the +5V from the BCM. Pin #2 connects to the Optical Sensor input...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

Sorry, I don't even know what that feature is... My stalk was from a 2012-2014 Nissan Pathfinder (Nissan Part #: 25560-3ka8e). The owner added factory foglights which required the stalk to be upgraded to one with the fog controls on it. But I did get the Auto Headlights feature to work with...

"internal" Daytime Running Lights (DRL or DTRL) on U.S. LEAFs

FYI I've been working on another thread to add Auto headlights to my S, and found that there's a software component to DTRL. Cars equipped with the hardware needs the software switch turned on. See picture below from the BCS section of the service manual. autolight by tk_1971, on Flickr

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

Got the Beta version of LeafSpy Pro and although I can change the settings, the auto light function still doesn't work. I've done some more homework on the Auto Light feature. I even went so far as to track down the different versions of the BCM which I found out should not be program-specific...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

So I contacted Jim (aka WattsLeft of LeafSpy) and asked if LeafSpy Pro is able to turn on the Auto Headlight function. Turns out the newest version is capable of doing just that. I have an older version on an Android phone that I bought just for LeafSpyPro when I wanted to change the settings...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

Here are my notes on how to make the connections. Unfortunately, there are no wires on the M24 BCM harness for the Optical Sensor input (#14) and the Sensor Power Supply output (#17). There is however a wire for Sensor Ground (#18). I wired everything up and cut the hole out for the Optical...

Automatic headlights - Stalk & sensor transplant into an S

Stalk pn: 25560-3KA8E combination switch Optical sensor pn: 28576-1HH0A I'm going to try installing the combination switch and sensor to see if I can get auto headlights in my '15 S. I have an independent mechanic who says his Nissan Consult works on a 2014. Anyone know if that will work on...
