Need a Module Layout for 40 kWh Battery Pack

Title says it all: I'm sure someone on this great forum has the diagram/pics from a manual. I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to replace the module associated with cell pair #41 in my pack at some point as it's weak and getting weaker. I know where I can buy a module, but at...

Replacing NissanConnectEV with OVMS in a Gen1 Leaf

Nissan recently notified owners of Gen1 (2011-2017) Nissan Leafs that support for CarWings/NissanConnect effectively ends when AT&T turns off their 3G network (used by the 2G/3G TCU) in early 2022. The good news is there is an alternative: replace the existing TCU (Telecommunications Unit) with...

Mobile operators to shut down 3G networks in 2022

It's deja-vu all over again: we will have the same problem we did with CarWings/EV Connect vis-a-vis 3G we did with 2G. A couple of things come to mind: 1) Does anyone know if the chip set on the (replacement/upgrade) TCU modems supports LTE (4G) as well as 3G? 2) Has anyone spoken to Nissan...

How Current is a Map Update?

I'm finding that some of the new highways around here are throwing my Nav a curve, so I'm thinking about buying an SD card update. However, I know there must be a "lag" between the update and the actual roads. Does anyone know what that delay is (months/years)? Do they issue a new update every...

    Leaf Link Connection Problems

Anyone getting "communication error" messages when using Leaf Link? I haven't been able to use it since Feb. 1: did Nissan lock out third parties or something? The NissanConnect EV app works/gets status.

3rd Annual Battery Check was free...

...and I had expected to pay at least something for it. Even more interesting, my service manager (same guy since I bought my Leaf) mentioned he had one of those "lizard" battery packs ready for me when I hit my warranty limit (currently down 2 bars)! That really got me fired up (in a good way)...

USA Today Story on hot/cold weather range

I usually don't quote USA Today, but I think the following data lends support to the decision Nissan must have struggled with during the Leaf design phase (and one we've debated here on the forum for YEARS): "AAA conducted a simulation to measure the driving range of three fully-electric...

Could this be a plug-in record?!

Was parked @Love Field (Dallas, TX) for the week where they have some *free* Blinks in an EV only parking area in the garage. I was actually conducting a bit of an experiment to see if the Blink would stay "active" until a sent a "charge command" a couple of days later, but to my amazement no...

MY2014 no more 80% charge option?

That makes NO sense: why would they eliminate the 80% charge option (especially if it's a software/programmable option). I could see them adding MORE charging options (e.g. 50% or 90%), not LESS :?: MOD NOTE: Merged posts from the Lease now or wait for 2014s? thread regarding 80% charging...

    Change in CarWings texts?

Has anyone else noticed a change in the ORIGIN/SENDER of their CW "charging stopped/completed" texts? I received my first "charging stopped" message in a week and it was from a DIFFERENT source (and it wasn't the old CSC number). I'm still trying to figure out if iOS7 is still messing with my texts.

Put a driver's side 2013 sun visor in my 2011 Leaf...

...and it wasn't as easy as it looked! I pre-ordered the 2013 visor so it was at the dealer when I went for my software recall/upgrade yesterday (took about a week to show up). What should have taken 2 minutes took me over an hour because the plastic mounts were DIFFERENT; of course, I couldn't...

    Replaced Ecopia's with Michelin Defenders

Title says it all: I finally got rid of those (crummy) stock tires and replaced them with a good LRR tire with a 90k mile warranty. I wasn't going to make it through my next inspection (or 20k miles), so I "pulled the trigger" while Michelin still had a rebate going. These are expensive tires...

Replaced 12v Lead with 12v Lithium

I finally "pulled the trigger" on a 12v Lithium replacement for the stock Lead Acid and so far, so good. Here's a link to the actual battery/specs I bought: https://www.lithiumpros.com/product/lithium-pros-c925-12v20ah-lithium-ion-battery/ I had to get creative with positioning of the 12v...

    Did my battery pack balance?

I had one of those "double charge complete" messages this morning, and now that I can measure the amount of power drawn by my EVSE (via a 220v Modlet), I downloaded the data. Here's what happened in the last day or so: 1) I charged to 100% Monday ending around 5pm (first charge message) 2)...

    EV Power Consumption/Measurement

For those of you lamenting there's no 240v "Kill-A-Watt" device, I've discovered a company that makes an easy-to-use alternative. The company is called "Think Eco" and the device is called a "Modlet" (http://themodlet.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It sets up a home (mesh)...

Rolling 2013 Features into 2011/2012 models

Shouldn't they be able to retro-actively add some of the 2013 (new) features--like Google® local search, Pandora® link for iPhone® and iPod® cover art--to the 2011/2012 models via software upgrade? I would even think that something like the "B-mode regen" could be added/modified via software...

Anyone have missing CarWings data in late September?

Like from Sept. 15 on? I've never seen a gap that large (even when it's known to be down), and I can still get "status" from the car. Do I need to call the CarWings "hotline"?

Trying to decide whether to "accept" software upgrade

With all the talk about range issues and "strange behavior" after recent software updates, I'm trying to decide whether to tell my dealer NOT to do any software updates when I take my Leaf in for the annual battery check next month. I've compared my versions to the baseline (in the Zoner thread)...

Look what Consumer Reports had to say about the Prius C

Source: Consumer Reports Toyota Prius C. The C is the least expensive Prius hybrid, getting 37 miles per gallon in the city and 43 mpg on the highway. It's not to be confused with the mainstay Prius that has earned Toyota its well-deserved mileage-leader reputation over the past decade. The C...

Can the passenger front window be converted to AUTO up/down?

After looking through the service manual, I get the idea it MAY be impossible without significant re-wiring and/or the addition of hardware. Has anyone considered this or looked at it in more detail? I was hoping you might be able to "add" the same mechanism that the driver's side window uses...
