Just saw an episode of this. It is an 11 or 12 as it has turn indicators in front fender.

I agree the little electric pump is a maintenance type item, as it will wear out. However, the price for them is nuts. I suspect it is because there are so few of these cars, but it really is just a 12v pump.

21581-3NA0A is the part I ordered from E-Bay. Price is crazy for it. I noticed that some VW Jettas have 12v waterpumps too, but they cost about $40. The markup on these simple pumps is insane.

That is great, thanks for the confirmation that it works. It is concerning that if that fails, it is half the value of the car potentially. This fix (if diode is issue) really takes the sting out of it.

The DTC that is thrown should show pump 1 for passenger side. You can check by listening to pump to see if it is running. There are 2 pumps, one under 12v battery (pump 2 I believe) and on passenger fender (pump 1).

When was the in service date? The 2012 warranty manual shows 60mo/60,000 miles warranty on EV System Coverage. Hopefully it covers this, charger is kind of important component to EV System.
