Huh? The Model 3 & Bolt, with their liquid cooling, are both more efficient than the first generation Leaf. The 2018 eGolf with air cooling & a lighter weight is just as efficient as the Bolt. The Bolt & Model 3 cost less per mile of range & less per battery kWh. Not sure where you are getting...

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

It all centers around expectations I suppose. On the one hand you have a vehicle that significantly increases range over its predecessor, while offering more advanced driving tech, and at a lower price point. That would seem amazing in and of itself. On the other hand, it seems Tesla have...

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

Saying "deliveries couldn't begin until a year later" is bad news. Saying that the 60kWh pack will be "less-unreasonably priced" is bad news. You are saying all Nissan had to say was bad news. This is the problem. That is why the 2018 Leaf is not great news. They should have said "40kWh & 60kWh...

That is correct. That is why offering a smaller sized battery & a larger one is a good idea. The problem is, they had to significantly delay the larger size, leaving only the small option available, after much teasing and hype.

We have no idea what Nissan will charge for the longer range version, only that they are planning on offering it & have been teasing it for years. $9000 for a 60kWh pack would be ridiculous, since that'd put the MSRP of the base model well over the Bolt. So no, it wouldn't be good news. You are...

Nissan is self-reportedly the EV leader of the world... yet they have all these "reasons" & "issues" that kept them from doing what other EV manufacturers have done years earlier? Save me the excuses, they seriously dropped the ball & need to be called out on it. Bolts sales are generally low...

They really should have had the 60kWh / 200+ mile version ready for the premier. It would have satisfied both crowds: the ones who want a cheaper model with less range, and the range hunters looking for options beyond the Bolt & Model 3. They are promising a longer version, but why do they need...

Some more info on Nissan Leaf's ProPilot, including speeds: http://insideevs.com/2018-nissan-leaf-drive-review/ "With the ProPilot engaged on the highway, platooning with the flow of traffic is a breeze. The system is not very aggressive (there’s not way to get it to pass the car in front of...

If it can be set to 85MPH, why does the US press release say up to 62MPH? Which one do I trust them to deliver on? I don't want to get my hopes up when they could easily say "we never promised ProPilot above 62MPH. Didn't you read our press release?" There are no consumer delivered Nissan Leafs...

Oh, the Nissan Leaf can park itself... if you don't live in the US. The automatic parking feature won't be available to the US market: https://www.autoblog.com/2017/07/05/new-nissan-leaf-will-have-fully-autonomous-parking/ "Unfortunately, Americans won't have the privilege of using this...

ProPilot took up most of the time during the world premier. It is what they've been teasing for a long time. It is a big disappointment, between speed limitations, single-lane dynamic cruise control & lane assistance only. No parking assist in the US, even though it was a big topic with live...

I'd put my money on Nissan being correct. Don't let wishful thinking get in the way of rational thought. 62MPH is the limit, and until further notice, means it won't work on the highway. Plan your purchasing accordingly.

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

The 62MPH limit was in the US Nissan news release. This means the system won't work at posted highway speeds in the US.

I held off from getting a Bolt with the same concern. I have kids & go on vacation... how could I ever deal with the "small" cargo space on the Bolt? Then a great lease deal came around, and I had to give it a go. Took it on vacation & everything fit. One thing I realized, is you can remove...

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

ProPilot was suppose to be their "ace up their sleeve", and they seriously limited it. How often are there going to be long stretches of single-lane driving that isn't at highway speeds?

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

Nissan states it will be 150 mile range: http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/releases/2018-nissan-leaf-makes-north-american-debut 63% of the range of a Bolt. A Bolt starts @ $37500. Multiply that be 63%, and the Leaf should be starting at $23625 if it wanted to match range per dollar. It...

Do you have a source on that 62MPH limit? I missed that! I expected ProPilot would be all about highway driving...?

Nothing was said about it, so probably nothing was improved in that regard. I also chuckled a bit when they said no critical battery problems throughout their history... although I guess a class action lawsuit on degradation might not be considered "critical".

You won't regret it! Love my Bolt. Was wishing for some more competition from the Leaf. The EV scene needs it!

Even if it had 20% aero improvement (which it won't), that'd be 142 * 1.2 = 170 miles. I believe it is safe to say a 200 mile EPA is impossible. You might be able to squeeze out 200 miles with careful driving, but I can squeeze out 300 miles on my Bolt. Oh, one thing we are forgetting...
