    Lizard Battery?

Looks like my signature fell off... 2011 Nissan Leaf SL Original Owner San Diego Area 29,000 miles Delivered in Mar/2011

    Lizard Battery?

My traction battery was replaced by Nissan in Oct of 2017. Is there a way to confirm if a lizard battery was installed?

2011 Leaf sat for 5 weeks, now shows no signs of life

I attach a trickle charger to the 12v when I let the vehicle sit for more than 3 days. I hardwired the connector to the battery, so attaching the charger is plug and play. I use this technique for all my vehicles.

Replacement Lizard battery Drops a bar After 9,000 Miles

Warranty coverage is predicated on either "defect" and/or "capacity loss". Nissan has their own perverted definition of what this means. To me, dropping a bar at less than 10,000 miles is clearly a defect, and absolutely a capacity loss. But Nissan carefully crafted their warranty language...

Replacement Lizard battery Drops a bar After 9,000 Miles

At 13,000 miles, 2015, I had to replace my original tires (Nissan). At 17,000 miles, 2017, down 3 bars, I replaced the traction battery ($6300 - Nissan). At 24,000 miles, 2019, I replaced the tires - again (Discount Tire). Last week, at 26,000 miles, I just dropped the first bar on the new...

    Interesting Range Observation

I get there at 9:30 each morning - before the mall opens - same spot dead center in front of JCP.

    Interesting Range Observation

Just a point of clarification -- the new battery has been in vehicle just over a year. That did, of course, improve the time to first bar drop, but I took this into account, having sampled >300 runs up and down the hill. The range improvement was linked directly to the road repairs, which were...

    Interesting Range Observation

The post was intended to highlight my observation the smooth roads have added a noticeable increase to my range. But to clarify your other inquiry, yes - I am doing "more" with the battery. I fully charge the vehicle because the first half mile out of my property is mostly uphill. I open up...

    Interesting Range Observation

For seven years, I have been driving down the hills from my house (mostly regen) to our local mall where I park and head out on a daily hike. I drive back up those same hills to go home. It is two miles each way. I know exactly where I drop my first bar on the return trip. Recently, our...

    SDGE TOU vs Tier Pricing

Thanks, Randy. I appreciate your input despite my rant against the "big-uts". It is crazy the rates we pay here in San Diego county. I also have a house in Japan where I thought the rates were sky high. I realized last summer San Diego is higher at $.556/kwh versus $.388 in Japan. That is...

    SDGE TOU vs Tier Pricing

I appreciate the reply and information. The CPUC does exactly what they are told by the utility lobby. This is not a conspiracy, but fact. The largest lobbyists in California are always the utilities. The state’s three big electric utilities together more than doubled their spending on...

    SDGE TOU vs Tier Pricing

SDGE is at it again. I see now they have changed the Super Off Peak summer period from 12:00AM - 2:00PM. Off peak is now 2:00PM - 4:00PM, and Peak pricing remains at 4:00PM to 9:00PM. Complete and focused attack on solar customers. They will continue to tweak their rates and TOU parameters...

Value of 2011 Leaf with New Traction Battery?

Just looking for some advice ... I have a 2011 Leaf SL (original owner) with 21,000 miles. Nissan replaced the traction battery last December under a warranty deal. Very clean car - new tires, seats covered since day-1. Garaged in San Diego since purchase. No maintenance issues. Time to...

    Charging at an RV Park?

Thanks to all for your helpful responses. This looks to cover all the bases. Is this the unit you're referencing? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J56WF9K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ASIYMWBVZG7J0&psc=1 This is a 220v unit. Is it correct to assume the NEMA 15-50 power panel at the RV...

    Charging at an RV Park?

Has anyone had experience with a charger (Juicebox, Chargepoint, etc) that I could plug in at an RV park to charge my Leaf? Most parks have 30a/50a power stations. I have the 120v unit that came with my Leaf, but that is a slow process. Thanks in advance...

    SDG&E EV-TOU-5

Thank you for your very detailed education on this topic. I appreciate it. I have always perceived SDGE as an enemy of solar customers, as antithetical as that seems. When I first had my system installed, I had a lot of interaction with the SDGE reps. One of them made a comment (~May-2008)...

    SDG&E EV-TOU-5

Thanks - It doesn't show for my account currently because my plan change (one year period) ends in September. I'll review at that time. So far, the DR-SES has worked out because we pushed all of our heavy power usage (Leaf-Pool-Well-Irrigation-Dishwasher) to after midnight. Not sure how that...
