what other car do you drive?

Love this! Not your typical EV driver. We're out there! BTW, what is the overall length & weight of that land train? :)

On the dash, miles vs battery %

The "guess-o-meter" seems to use only the last few minutes of miles-per-kwh data to come up with its estimate, so it varies wildly. It is only accurate if the remainder of your drive will be exactly the same as what you've recently driven. I suppose it's also fair to say that the fewer miles...

    Ebay 2013 SV 147 Miles...ends in 3 hours...

I bought my '13 in May of 2017 with only 5100 miles. It had been owned by the Washington State government and had mostly sat around, probably at 100% charge for all of that time (my guess, based on settings, and how they treat the remaining vehicles). It looked (and smelled) showroom new...

    Said goodbye to 11mpg yesterday

I second that: I live in Vancouver, WA, which should be ideal for the Leaf battery, but my south-facing insulated garage stays hot all night (it gets hot from leaving the doors open a lot, and also thanks to our ICE car). Overnight lows can be in the mid-50's outside, but the garage will still...

    2018 Leaf Trailer Hitch

I usually drive alone, but on a recent 100 mile trip I had a passenger (probably 3x the weight of that hitch) and saw no change in miles / kwh. So I think you won't really notice it.

Forum noob with a FS question

I gather from your message that you're moving to Oregon, possibly Portland? Just an FYI, the climate in the NW is perfect for keeping your Leaf battery healthy, and there are lots of chargers around the Portland area. Just food for thought if you're still on the fence about keeping it.

    Hello and Help!

My 2013 will drive forward and reverse with the rear hatch open. It just shows a non-specific warning triangle light on the dashboard.

    H13/9008 bulb change

Something I learned recently and found interesting regarding operating Halogen bulbs at lower-than-specified voltages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halogen_lamp#Halogen_cycle "With a reduced voltage the evaporation is lower and there may be too much halogen, which can lead to abnormal...

How should you charge your leaf at home?

From what I can tell, those of us who bought used Leafs are more likely than original owners to try to live with L1 indefinitely. I'm at the one year point now and L1 has served me just fine: There have only been a few times when the lack of L2 left me with serious range anxiety, or made me...

are fenders different between 2013 to 2015 year Leaf

FYI, I own a pearl white 2013 (no side marker light, made in US).

    heat pump cycling excessively

For engine-powered air conditioner compressors, excessive cycling can result from being overcharged (pressure too high). But you said you heard the same thing on two different units, so I kind of doubt that. I haven't noticed it on mine, but I haven't listened closely.

How Old is YOUR 12 volt Battery?

I bought my '13 used in Spring 2017. It had what appeared to be the original OEM battery in it. Although it seemed to work okay, it measured a bit low. As a new owner and frequent forum reader, I replaced the battery as a precautionary measure within a few weeks of buying the car. The...

back door / hatchback won't open

I also have a 2013 and although that access panel is not present, there is a small slot in the same location that is clearly meant for accessing the lock mechanism. I looked in there with a flashlight and could see several parts, though it wasn't immediately obvious what you'd need to do. I...

Manual start with dead key fob does not work

Yep, you beat me to it -- The passive RFID chip uses a separate antenna from the active portions of the fob. It requires no battery, and quite possibly shares no circuitry whatsoever with the rest of the fob. Something in that portion of the fob may be broken -- possibly damaged during a...

Breaks makes grinding sound when reversing in cold weather

This is especially true if you park outside on a windy, rainy day, and even more so if your wheels have large openings which allow rain to reach the rotors easily. Living in the NW, I have seen impressive amounts of rust form during a single 8 hour work day.

    No Brakes!

It certainly sounds like you have the recall issue. But before you give up, do yourself a favor and check the 12V lead-acid battery. There are dozens of threads on this board about the crazy stuff that happens when that battery goes bad, including brake system failures.

Anyone ever run out of juice?

Apparently truck-mounted CHAdeMO rescue chargers do exist: https://electrek.co/2016/09/06/aaa-ev-emergency-charging-truck/ But they don't get much use -- so they are probably losing money for AAA, and won't roll out nation-wide: https://insideevs.com/aaa-charging-trucks-seldom-see-action/

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

I wonder if the fault happens when a major load switches on/off, like a refrigerator, freezer, heater, water heater, air compressor, or well pump. Large loads like that, especially with motors, can cause noise and sagging voltages. Also, electronics with switching power supplies (like a TV...

Leaf moves forward when car in FWD and begin to release brake pedal - suggestions/recommendations ?

Creep mode is a little bit different in the Leaf than in a gas powered car with an automatic transmission... In an automatic car, if the transmission is in gear, there is always some torque trying to move you forward (or backwards). In an electric car, you can imagine how wasteful this would...

    Shifting into "B" mode

I try to -- but it's not easy with drive-by-wire throttles (which I have in all three cars now). This was so simple back in the days when the gas pedal moved along with the cruise control: You'd put light pressure on the pedal and then turn off the cruise control. Then you'd feel the pedal...
