Battery percentage drops erratically on acceleration

That's the question isn't it? I ended up trading mine in for my current '20 SL+ after whatever they did to stabilize it dropped my percentage below 80%. It was stable, but they (3 dealerships) wouldn't even talk to me about replacing it for low capacity, and disqualified Leaf Spy data as...

Buying a Leaf with 200 000 km on it

Great guide, thank you! My only caveat is NEVER trust the capacity bars. I've had 5 Leafs, 2013, 2015, 2018, 2018, & 2020. None of them ever showed less than 12 bars, even at as low as 73% capacity actually remaining. One of the 2018's with a bad module that caused dead on the side of the road...

Battery percentage drops erratically on acceleration

Beware, they "fixed" mine by turning off that module because I had an immediate drop to below 80%. I've loved all my Leafs except that 2018 40kw. Their response to complaint (even before I forced them to drive it) was " It charges, it drives, no error codes... No warranty. Nissan does such at...

Nissan Dealership Refilled AC/Heatpump and Compressor mysteriously dies

Your problem was likely caused by the unnecessary servicing. I'm on my 5th Leaf. I NEVER to look any of them in for anything other than recalls or a warranty issue. Never let them open (and contaminate) the brake systems! They don't need new fluid unless you let them break that factory seal...

Air conditioning 'compressor' or 'condenser' problem

So true. I'm on my 5th Leaf. I NEVER to look any of them in for anything other than recalls or a warranty issue. Never let them open (and contaminate) the brake system! They don't need new fluid unless you let them break that factory seal. Leafs need nothing but tires, ww wipers & fluid, and an...

    2020 Leaf with 75,000km VS 2018 Leaf with 35,000km

I had an 18 that dropped to 78% and still showed 12/12 bars. 3 dealers likewise told me to go kick rocks. One even said, and I quote, "It charges, it's drives, we're done here."

Battery SOH in LeafSpy - concerned

They almost always show 12 bars. It's how Nissan avoids legitimate warranty battery replacements. The other thing they did on the 24kw batteries is start them at 26kw, so it would take longer to get "below 80%". Most leafs will NEVER show less than 12 bars. My '13 showed 12 bars while below 80%...

battery health for 2020 Leaf with 10,000 miles?

When I was looking for my 2020 SL PLUS, I put my Leafspy on 6 different cars at dealerships. NONE of them had more that 54Kw. Nissan is simply lying. The only way to see 64kw is Amps x Volts, but that's not really available. You're only going to see about 55kw max actually useable.

    2020 Leaf with 75,000km VS 2018 Leaf with 35,000km

Hi. I've had 5 Leafs. None of them ever showed a lost bar... Even though my 2013 was at 65% when I eventually sold it. It still showed 12 bars. My '18 SL showed 12 bars up to and after the battery failed. This is because Nissan bases the warranty on that lying little dash indicator. You can't...

LEAFSPY PRO kW or Ah x volts?

Extremely helpful. I looked up Gary Gid, and found some good posts, thanks to your replies! So what I'm getting is that basically GID's are a more accurate measure of watts that will come OUT of your battery, than looking at how many watts are IN your battery? Since the GID value varies, is...

LEAFSPY PRO kW or Ah x volts?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I admit, I've not learned enough about GIDs. It's very difficult to find an explanation of how they are calculated (or even what GID stands for). I'm aware of the voltage drop, but that happens as watt hours are removed from the battery. Are you saying that...

LEAFSPY PRO kW or Ah x volts?

My current (and 5th) Leaf is a nearly new 2020 SL Plus. I love it! My question is: When I look at Leafspy Pro it reports XX kilowatts. But when I look at the data screen and multiply current Battery Volts times Amp Hours, I get a larger (and closer to what the car should have) number of kW by...

    Cabin Air Cooling the Battery

Aftrr reading all of this, I'm wondering if the heater is a heat pump. If so, perhaps running the heat, and letting it out the windows may flow the "waste cold" over the battery, similar to the a/c flowing waste heat over the battery. Whatdo you think? John B 15 Leaf SV, 15,000 MI...
