    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Buyback completed. Here's a synopsis: 2017 Leaf S dropped it's fourth bar Sept 2023. Took to dealer and got warrantee approved (it took them -- the dealer, not Nissan -- 3 days, which was an annoyance). Called Nissan Consumer right away and got a case assigned. They (humorously?) told me on Oct...

What is your Average miles per kwh?

2017 S: Lifetime average according to dashboard (6 years 5 months old; will be bought back any day now) 5.6 mi/kwh 39,813 miles Caveats: very little highway. Almost all on original tires (they were replaced just a couple of months ago). Almost no heat (Phoenix metro), mostly flat terrain...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

I would *THINK* nissan would be okay with a buyback of the buyback -- in other words, from what my friends in the auto sales industry tell me, the car is just going to wholesaled with some sort of impaired title (no double-dipping on the battery warrantee). E.g. the KBB trade-in price is like...

But it's weirder than that for AZ, right? AZ lemon law expired years ago; as it's capped at 24 months/24,000 miles. So, like you said, they seem to be using somewhat arbitrary usage calculations. i got lucky but i don't know why.

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

@Shamus Your deal sheet looks basically same as mine except YIKES, yes that is hard to understand how they compute "usage"; my usage was ~ $3,000 for ~40,000 miles. I also got a 1 day turnaround via email when i just asked for a better deal, they summarily cut the usage charge in half. Other...

Battery 17% sudden drop while driving

@user546379 so over on reddit thread it looks like you are in line for a warranty replacment as of a couple of weeks ago, correct? How is the timeframe?

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

@adavidw wrote a really insightful post a couple of pages back breaking down various warranty remedies, and why things are the way they are. https://mynissanleaf.com/threads/the-battery-replacement-buyback-thread.34237/post-635367 It appears to be the case that if you are an original owner you...

    Nissan "certified"

I finally got the full(er?) CPO warranty info.... my local dealer was OF NO HELP, I asked twice and was assured they would look for it but nothing was forthcoming; presumably because they have zero CPO leafs and there would be nothing in it for them. So... I spoke with a very knowledgable...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

I wasn't offered a loaner, nor did I ask for one. But realistically, once they tell you they plan to give you a voluntary offer, it's going to be on the order of a minimum of a couple months to complete a buyback. My buyback offer just came a couple days ago, they pretty much said there was a...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

I got my buyback offer. It took them about 2 weeks from letter of intent to buyback offer. Buyback amount is the out-the-door price I paid the dealer back in 2017, less ~ $3,000 for usage. I was pleasantly surprised at the usage, as I thought I heard some horrendously higher usage offers...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

I got my letter of intent to offer a buyback -- question for those of you who've done this: how long does it take to produce an initial offer? short backstory is I opened a claim right away with NNA (Nissan North America) back in October when battery was diagnosed as degraded and warranty...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

It all started by accident. the car dropped its fourth bar so I took the car in to dealership on a Tuesday and the advisor said i would have to leave the car with them for ABOUT TWO WEEKS.(I was expecting more like a few hours!), and essentially blaming nissan corporate because according to her...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Hey this is intriguing... My Monday update from Nissan Consume Affairs (voicemail) today said the ETA for battery is now expected to arrive at dealer no later than Feb 24, 2024. If true, that would be a lead time of < 5 months.

By the way, I started a case with Nissan Consumer Affairs a few weeks ago... I get weekly updates, the first couple came by voicemail, now they come in email, emphasis in original :-)

Yeah, YEAH! that's what i wondered too! Or, alternatively, why can't they just offer money to "buy out" the warrantee? ($12K perhaps?)

    The 40KWH Battery Topic

I am (in theory) waiting for a replacement pack for a degraded 30kwh pack in a 2017. My service advisor claims she's seen "at least two" re-manufactured (or possible said re-cycled, or re-furbished?) replacement packs. Has there been any confirmed reports of such (from Nissan, not after-marked)?
  17. E

    receipt for degradation warranty?

The service advisor also claimed she had seen "some" (two, maybe several) recycled packs. But that still seems like an urban legend.

    receipt for degradation warranty?

I posted my frustration with getting the process started in another thread: https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=634361#p634361 they initially told me i should expect it to take TWO WEEKS, maybe longer, to "diagnose" the car, and get the ok from Nissan, during which time they would have to...
  19. E

    receipt for degradation warranty?

No, but we (both myself and the service advisor) both know it will either be indefinite or never

    receipt for degradation warranty?

I just got my newly 8-bar 2017 leaf back from dealer. When I got the car back, the service advisor told me that it's "all done" and Nissan has accepted (approved?) the replacement, and a replacement pack has been ordered. I would have expected some sort of paperwork showing that. She said there...
