    Nissan's Broken Promise

$5400 adjusted for inflation from 2012 is $7,200. Adjusted for increased capacity from 24 to 40 kWh (the modern version of the same size battery) is exactly $12,000. Too bad the price did not decrease per kWh but I understand batteries are in demand so prices stay high.

Just got my 2017 leaf. I think it's only 9 bars?

85% (capacity, at least for 11 bars) * 83% (SOC, or current charge) *107 miles range at full capacity and charge = 76 mile So the estimated is quite close; but yes, don't rely on it.

Portable 240 volt 32 Amp NEMA 6-50 charger

I've been using Zencar for more than two years now, without any problem. Caveats: AFAIS they have not achieved their UL listing yet. The short cable before the brick does not comply with the 12 inch limit.

    General EV Infrastructure News

States cannot print money (that is, do deficit-funded stimulus/infrastructure investments). The federal government can and it should.

Recall 19055 - prompt response please

Make sure they have the parts - my dealership didn't, when I went there on Friday for regular scheduled service. They said I may need to leave it overnight; it was about 1.5 hrs before closing.

(Some of) The Cost of Carbon Emissions

I get the impression that you are ignorant of, or downplaying the severe consequences of climate change in the near future. Changing topography is our last concern. People dying of heat waves, and climate refugees are in the news now. The big one is ecosphere disruption. Think undying germs and...

Recall 19055 - prompt response please

(Some of) The Cost of Carbon Emissions

It is a huge sleight of the hand, from trust to faith. I trust scientists, because they have verifiable evidence, repeatable results and self-correcting mechanism. Faith has nothing; you have nothing, besides rhetoric. Based on this faulty logic, you we take it on faith that the planet is round...

Lock door while FOB in car

My spare FOB worked fine after staying without a battery for at least two months. I expect it has flash memory that will retain indefinitely for all practical purposes.

Scientists Refuse to be Silenced: Climate Change

As economist Dean Baker's pet peeve is, big numbers need context. This one does not look so bad, compared to US budget (0.2% per year), let alone GDP. However, it will be unequally distributed, with certain regions and classes bearing the brunt of it, and probably does not reflect properly the...

    Electrify America Network

I would guess "secured" means that the legal/tenant arrangements with parcel owner have been made, while the permit may have a status of "not applied for" or "under review by jurisdiction".

Is there a site or Nissan web page which shows all dealerships with Chademo facilities.

The EZ-Charge map, although still not filterable, shows the dealership chargers with a separate pin. However, at this time only the Android app works for me, I could not open the map in a browser. Edit: apparently, wrong link from the search page. Link from EZ-Charge homepage works. Edit #2...

Should I be looking for a new Nissan dealer to service my Leaf?

Or you can specify your location in your profile, and improve the probability of getting recommendations from the forum, or just networking references (e.g. local FB group, etc.). In my area (admittedly, with high concentration of Leafs), one dealership has the "go to" reputation for service.

Car not charged overnight if using charge timer

No, the lights do not blink all the time until charging, only a few minutes after plugging-in with the timer on. Then they completely go off, until charging starts, when they light up steadily showing the charge level. Again, this is with the day schedule timer, not the one shown in the...

Car not charged overnight if using charge timer

I don't think this timer sets time of the day, I think this is period (that is, to charge within 7 hrs, in your case, but then it should start charging? Anyway, I've never used this one). The scheduling day times are set from the Zero Emission menu on the touch screen. Set only end times, not...
