(Videos) 2.5 yo Leaf; startup idiot lights weird sometimes

It turns out all of this had to do with a low 12v battery. I disconnected the 12V battery and left it on trickle charge... I had ~13.5V open circuit voltage, and ~13V after connecting the leaf. Started the car, and the "bulb check" was back... and was able to clear all DTC codes...

Thanks for the suggestion, and if a fully charged 12V battery and clearing all codes won't do the trick I'll give this a shot via the console buttons...but... ... I have leaf spy and the start up sound was the first thing I disabled when I got the car (which I found extremely unpleasant (i.e...

Thanks for the great info, I was getting a little worried with all these codes... I'm leaving town for a few days, so I'll disconnect the battery and connect it to a charger/maintainer while I'm gone. When I get back I will follow Gerry's advice, clear all the codes and see what happens when I...

Thanks for the reply! I scanned the DTCs and there are a few codes stored... one of them mentions CAN comm circuit. I uploaded the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/WCoMv0T

This video better shows what I'm talking about. Aux bat voltage was 12.6. Battery is <1yr old and I experienced weak battery issues before when I replaced it ... this is not intermittent, the dash startup has changed a couple of weeks ago and it's been like this every time...

I ran into this post and since I have a similar question I figured I would ask here rather than start a new thread. I checked the 12V battery (which I replaced in 2019) and it is around 13V I have a 2013 SL and the dash used to startup normally, with the typical "bars-go-up-and-down" and then...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

Hey, check this out! At 5m:55s Calvin Kim, the product spokesperson for the Porsche Taycan, said it has a 93 kW lithium ion battery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzkdrdwQvls ;)

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

I can see your frustration when the correct unit of measure is not used... however it was very obvious I'm referring to storage capacity and not power output. If I say "my Leaf has the 24 ... do you have the 24 or the 30?" I can even omit the word battery and it's very obvious what I'm...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

WOW... and my wow is about driving 25k mi a year... with a Leaf. Working weekday only would be 95.8mi /day If you drive everyday that is 68.5mi /day.... still a lot for this car. well, I have the 24kW you have the 30kW What was your charging schedule? 100% daily? Did you charge multiple times...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

My Excel spreadsheet chart indicates otherwise... I do not have a regular commute 9-5 job, I travel a lot (by plane) and my car sits a lot in between... I'll be home for a couple of weeks and drive, then I'll fly out and the car sits in the airport parking garage for a couple of weeks. The SOH...

L1/L2 counter increases by 2 to 4 each charge

"Lower SOC's will reduce degradation regardless of whether the car measures it correctly or not." I agree, however less capacity bars will reduce resale value, whether it is real or not.

L1/L2 counter increases by 2 to 4 each charge

"SOH values artificially low due short drives and charging only to 80% ?" This is a very old post, but is this for real? Does that mean that you can "artificially" lose capacity bars because of frequent partial charges rather than charging to 100% ? So if you charge to 100% you lose SOH...

    BMS reset proof for dealership

Can you please elaborate on this? How do you match kWh to SOC to determine BMS reset? And dash SOC or Leafspy SOC ? Thanks

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

In my data I also keep track of highest cell temp. and even when really warm out it's in the mid 80s. Battery has been on average in the mid 70s betwen November and April, and in mid 80s betwen may and October. Few sporadic peaks in the high 90s due to DC charging. I avoid highways, avoid...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

All very interesting and valid points. I wanted to point out that I'm comparing the SL because IMO any Tesla surpasses any car's top of the line by a long shot. But that's just my opinion, I can see how some prefer the look and feel of what they're already familiar with. True that the LEAF still...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

... and my new (babied as ****) lizard battery replaced 2 years ago, is already down to 89% SOH 11% in 2 years ... wow ... and yes, I can tell by the range, I am keeping a very close record, and will share here soon

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

I haven't found a newer post with a similar title so I am resurrecting this one... This question (which is beyond me) has been bugging my mind, and I have to ask ... Why oh why on this flat ass Earth, would anyone (in their right ass mind) buy a (top of the line) Leaf SL rather than a baseline...
