Leaf owners unite! Easier to reach charge port release lever

I'd prefer no charge port release lever at all. I thought a fueling release lever was added to cars to prevent gas theft.  Keeping it for an electric car seems silly.   A spring mechanism for the charge port cover could assure the cover stays closed while driving, yet will flip open for...

Drained it –One Leaf Owner's Experience

Your experience does cause me to think twice about completing my Leaf purchase. The lesson learned is that a typical drive in the Bay Area can easily exceed the Leaf's range.   Do I really want to deal with the inconvenience of needing to judge the distance of each daily drive? A few level 3...

    The forgotten Sept/Oct orders

My dashboard changed from Pending to "Week of May 2, 2011" last night. I got an e-mail from Nissan Customer Support yesterday. It said no VIN has been assigned to me, but my information had been forwarded to the "Leadership team who are working hard to find me a vehicle". Maybe my e-mail to...

    May Deliveries! Or... May(be)?

Last night, I became an April>May>Pending, too. I suspect everyone without a VIN was moved to pending, so they could re-sequence dashboard delivery estimates by order date. They have a PR problem, and need to respect the ordering queue to make things right.

    Was April now May

I was changed from April to May, too. Now it's eight months from order date! Do I really want a Leaf that much? Only if there were other choices. I'd choose a Volt, but every dealer I've talked to wants way over MSRP, or the delay is worse than the Leaf. Maybe I should put the $33,000 into...

See The Leaf In Person 9/20/10 @ Boardwalk Nissan

I'll be there. I've been walking by Boardwalk Nissan at lunchtime for the last few months hoping to see one (and Boardwalk Chevrolet for the Volt) I can't decide whether to buy a Leaf or a Volt. With the $5,000 California rebate, the Leaf is a bargain when compared to the Volt, but can I...

New Survey Out (Online Research Panel)

I just completed the survey. It appears its primary purpose is to translate reservations into orders. Maybe a lower percentage than expected of those given RAQ ability are proceeding with their orders.

EVSE Home Assessment Scheduling is Live!

My evaluation is scheduled for July 1. With the 50 percent federal tax credit available this year (up to $2,000) for EVSE installation, I would like the installer to future proof the electrical service. When the electrician comes for my July 1 evaluation, I wonder how much future proofing he is...

PG&E EVSE Code Requirements PDF found

Very interesting. Thanks for finding this. I know nothing about the electric code, but Tesla sells a 240 Volt Universal Mobile Charger on their website. When a J-1772 version of this appears, I'll have the electrician install a couple of 240 Volt L14-50R receptacles (with Safety Switches &...

    San Francisco Area?

http://evnut.com/vaca_dc_fast_charger.html Darell "The EV Nut", in the link above, reports on the first public Leaf (TEPCO) fast charging station in California. It's located in Vacaville. This makes Sacramento a viable destination for many Leaf owners in the Bay Area.

    Leaf charging info.

Although most buyers of the Leaf won't use a fast DC charger, it's an important feature for the EV industry in the future. The EV Project that's installing EVSE's and chargers for Nissan in early adopter locations has hundreds of fast charging spots planned. If SAE is too slow in setting the...
