Limiting charge to LESS than 80%

It's not as hot as in Singapore, but close. At night the temperature goes down to around 75 - 80 degrees. In the midday, it's around 82 - 86 degrees. I have never seen a leaf here that is lower or higher than 6 bars. For some reason, probably because of the wolf and lizard battery packs, 2014...

Limiting charge to LESS than 80%

Wow! I never knew it could do any of that. Thanks a lot! A guy at a local not-so-authorized nissan service center :) . His reasoning was like that there is a bunch of things the car needs to do with the battery circuit when it is about to stop charging, and if you stop charging without...

Limiting charge to LESS than 80%

Umm.... but I travel only two or three days a week! :D That's what I was trying to do (without actually doing the math though). It's just I was told that suddenly cutting power without 'informing' the car first can be bad for the battery.

Limiting charge to LESS than 80%

I thought that button only unlatches the handle. Are you saying that pushing that button electrically terminates charging? When I want to cut power, I turn off the circuit breaker which is dedicated to charging the leaf. Is that safe? I don't have an L2 charger, I think. I mean all I have is...

Limiting charge to LESS than 80%

Here's my dilemma: I usually travel less than 5 miles a day. If I charge my 2014 leaf to 80%, it will have to hold that charge for several weeks, or months. I have been told that keeping a leaf charged higher than 50% for a long period is bad for the battery. ... I think it can do better if...

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

It seems finding a 2015 leaf is not that easy in where I live. After searching for about a month, I found two cars: 2015 Acenta : Battery bars: 9 (shows 130 km / 80 miles on full charge) Mileage: 51,000 km / 32 ,000 miles driven 2014 : Battery bars: 10 (shows 160km / 100 miles on full charge)...

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

I've also heard that if you only ever charge your battery to around 40%, you can have a significantly longer battery life. Is there any truth to this claim?

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

Most Toyota Corollas (except 1980 ones) cost more than some of the leaf deals we have here these days. Plus we have cheap electricity at nights, which helps a lot to charge a leaf. Plus I'm more of a environmentalist, and love the concept of EVs. It seems my options are either to look for a...

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

Well, I do not plan to resell it anytime sooner. If I tell you my long-term plan, I DO plan to change the battery, but only after at least 5 years from now (sorry for not being clear about this at the first place). And then I plan to keep it with me until it dies :) There were smoking deals for...

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

A bike/scooter is not an option - for a whole lot of reasons! :) Wow! That sounds like a huge deal breaker for those smoking deals! So, if I get anything below 8 bars, and even if I use it very infrequently, the range will drop down to below 25 miles (the max I need) within 2 years or so...

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

Thanks! If I buy the car, I think it will spend at least 90% its time parked in a shelter. And electricity is cheap during the night here, so I will only be charging it at nights, when everything is cold :-) I have seen people driving leaf cars with just 3 white bars around here and they have...

Thinking of buying a used 2014-2015 nissan leaf (need help)

A bit about my requirement: I drive very rarely. Around 2 - 8 days per month, between 8km (5 miles) to 25km (15 miles) per day. Definitely not more than 80km (50 miles) per month in total. Once in a while (maybe once every 3 months) I take a 40km (25 miles) ride. For anything longer, I would...
