Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

I spent a couple of weeks trying to get my Gen1 OBC to charge the HV battery but in the end I went with the Outlander PHEV charger. It is smaller, a better shape for installing has the 12V charger built in and is better documented so was a better solution all round for me. If you ever get it...

Here is my latest video on the topic. I didn't go into detail but posted links to sources. https://youtu.be/mGNyog4xDnY

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

I might have been able to do it using examples of CAN code but your code made it much easier. Just to be clear I was able to start it charging but still need to automate stopping the charging as the Outlander OBC will continue charge up to 420V but hopefully a bit more time will sort that out.

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Having given up on the Leaf OBC I bought one from a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as it has been recommended by a few people. Getting the dc to dc working was as simple as with the Nissan Leaf PDM but the ac charging was a bit more challenging but after two days working at it IT'S WORKING!!!!! :D...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Just in case anyone is following this and is interested in the multiple laptop PSU's idea I mentioned earlier, I got it working with 16 cells and 5 PSU's in series. The pack was sitting at 92V and when powered on the laptop psu's were at 99V. Connecting the psu's to the pack directly caused a...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Unfortunately today has been a big fat fail. I tried linking 5 PSU's in series as mentioned and could see 99V (as each were a little over 19V) however as soon as I connected them to the battery modules which were sitting around 92V the PSU's turned themselves off and refused to turn back on...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

I've connected three together in the past and saw no issues when turning them off and on randomly however they were not under load, nor did they have batteries in parallel with them so this could still end up being a very bad idea. :o I plan to do a test this evening with 5 chargers and 24...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Yes it occurred to me that having potentially 400V across a single charger could be sub optimal. :o Here is my thinking on using the laptop chargers. Each charger is 19V therefore 21 x 19 = 399V 399V / 96 cells = 4.156V. This would be an acceptable voltage for these cells so ending the...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

OK so I managed to turn off the CAN messages I didn't want from your code Peter (or at least the ones TrueSoln didn't mention) and connected the Due to the OBC but no joy. The three CAN messages are being sent as they are in your code and I still see a change to one of the CAN codes coming from...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

LOL, you must have read my mind Peter! Earlier today I was looking at the codes and suddenly realised you have already done the heavy lifting. The three CAN messages TrueSoln mentioned are already in your code so I've been REMing out all the bits he didn't mention and hope to try it again later.

Thanks Dala, I guess that makes sense. I'm working now so I'll take a look this evening.

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Thank you Dala, you're a star. :D I knew this was really poor coding but I was looking for something very simple that I could adjust with the numbers supplied by #TrueSoln This came from an example in the MPC2515 Library and was simple enough even for me to understand but I could see the...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

OK guys, sorry for the delay getting back but I ran into issues when the CAN suddenly stopped showing. I spent hours faffing about changing just about everything when it suddenly occurred I should turn everything off and check the resistance across the CAN network. It was around 8kR so there...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Thanks, however it is still not working code as it throws up other errors when I tried. Earlier today I tried running the CAN messages mentioned in a MCP1525 example like nlspace suggested but still no joy. It looks like the CAN is working but I'm not certain about the timing. I ended up using...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Thanks for your reply, you've confirmed what I was thinking. I may give that a go at some stage but I think I'm getting to the point where the charger is holding me back from getting on with the project. I'll spend a little more time working through Peters code to see if I can incorporate some...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

I've been re-reading this thread and came across this post from #TrueSoln on page 5 where he talks about success in getting the Gen1 OBC working. Unfortunately I'm rubbish with Arduino programming and have not been able to get this code to compile. Is it even a complete sketch or just part of a...

Sorry I should have posted this clip too. https://youtube.com/shorts/g-Ksf69OuPc?feature=share https://imgur.com/Ynfc4vP I am seeing the 11a and 1d4 messages you mentioned. Note I was rereading your last posts and noticed you mentioned 380 and 5BF. Your right they are not from the Due but are...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

So I managed to grab a few minutes to look at this again tonight and made a discovery. It looks like I had connected the two sense wires at the charge port the wrong way round because after swapping them around I now have the Power light on and see a change in the CAN when I connect the granny...

Stand alone OBC/PDModule EV system Can 2015 - SOLVED

Hi Dala I feel privileged I have Dala the great corresponding. The BMS came from from a guy in Southern Ireland so I don't know the history of it. Here are a couple of photos. As you can see it has all white connectors which I believe means something and the car details are written...
