    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

I don't use FB myself, but feel free to post a link to this thread.

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

I do appreciate the advice, however when I started this thread, the car was already at the dealership. I also have other priorities in life besides sitting around in my snow-covered driveway trying to self-diagnose a vehicle that rightfully should be repaired by manufacturer, which is one of the...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

During the first 10 weeks it was at the dealership, they replaced the 12 volt battery, the "lithium-ion battery Junction box", and the "Power inverter/charger". I never received and invoice/repair order for when I had to send it back for the next 5 week stint. However, my understanding is that...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

So, I picked up the car after the first ten weeks at the dealership and was told that everything had been fixed. I didn't drive more than a mile from the dealership when the EV WARNING light came on. Foolishily, I thought it might be fluke and perhaps would go out after restarting the car or...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

After 10 weeks, the dealership was able to replace the what they refer to as the LITH-ION BATTERY JUNCTION BOX and the POWER INVERTER/CHARGER, which was enough to get it running. They were able to cover this work under the 8 year battery warranty. (except for the 12 volt battery replacement.)...

This 15 week clown show has taken place at Marlboro Nissan in Marlboro, Massachusetts

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

So I finally got my car back... with a very little information on what was fixed. For those of you interested in the codes; these codes were listed on the invoice: C1109; C118C; POA8D; P311C; P3176; P317B; P3180; P30FE; C1A62; C1A70 and a line that states: Tech line advised to follow P311C...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

That is correct, just barely. The dealership has made no claims the diagnostics charges will be applied towards the repair and I don't expect that it will. I am however hoping and expecting that it will be covered under warranty and it won't matter to me.

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

At the point I was told that the next series of diagnostic steps would cost an additional $1,000, I contacted LEAF customer service to see if they would stand behind their product given my circumstances. The customer service agent advised me that the 2012 LEAF had a five year warranty on both...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

I'm not sure that there is much of that going on around here. Most Nissan dealerships in this part of the world only have one certified LEAF tech and I think even that is only because Nissan requires them to have one if they want to sell LEAFs. I'm sure they would love for me to do that. They...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

So when they first got my LEAF at the dealership they told me that it threw 15-20 different codes when they first hooked it up. The diagnostic steps they are following are supposedly straight from Nissan technical support.

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

cat·a·stroph·ic /kade'sträfik/ adjective- (2) extremely unfortunate or unsuccessful. I do think that this failure is extremely unfortunate on my part and extremely unsuccessful on Nissan's part. If you were being asked to shell out $1,500 just to figure out what needs to be fixed you might...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

After the dealership had the car for the better part of two weeks, they still could not determine the cause of the original problem. They informed me that they were in contact with Nissan technical support and the recommendation was for the next diagnostic procedure which takes 9-11 hours at...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

The next day I called roadside assistance and had the car flatbedded to the second closest Nissan dealership to my house. They did indeed charge me $150 to replace the 12 volt battery in addition to $360 for diagnostic work. There is still no change in the condition. They still have not managed...

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

So I had the same thought. Brought out the ole 12 volt battery charger and hooked it for about 30 minutes. Nothing changed.

    Catastrophic Failure of 2012 Leaf

The other day my wife called me at work saying she couldn't get the LEAF to go. After several attempts of shutting down and restarting the car she there was no change. I advised her plug the car in for 5 minutes, unplug it and try again. Still no change. When I got home from work I tried several...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

My experience has been fairly similar here in the bay state. I don't any instruments to record it, but I lost the first bar at about 45,000 mi, the 2nd at 47,750 mi. It still shows 10 bars at about 55,000 mi, but seems a lot closer to 9.

Substandard charge adapter provided with 2013 Leaf

The EVSE upgrade comes with an optional 120V adapter for this exact situation. (It was $20 extra when I bought mine and I haven't used it since)

    New England Leafs?

Brought my LEAF to BERTERA NISSAN in Auburn, MA for its Annual service a couple of weeks ago. Turns out these clowns failed to perform the battery test, but still managed to try to sell me a motor oil additive in a "service package custom designed for my vehicle." These guys are a real...

    Carwings, Is it worth it?

Does anybody know if there is a way to remotely start the LEAF without CARWINGS? That is the only feature I find worthwhile in the telemetrics package and I would rather be able to do it from a keychain than have to open an app on a smartphone or deal with the slow loading website. I thought the...
