Lost Battery Capacity and Range / Autonomy, Page 2

Just a quick heads up. Renault doesn't sell the batteries with the car, they rent them for periods from 1 year to 3+ years combined with annual mileage. And they don't say "warranty", they "guarantee" you that your rented battery will have at least 75% of original capacity at delivery. And I...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I stand corrected! :) What I was trying to illustrate is that all the testing was done with the same models of EVSE known to Nissan, and now there are many more models. I'm insisting on this issue because I know EVSE matters, and I have an example to prove it, mine! In Portugal our official...

Phoenix and Hot Climate Leafs - Try L1 Charging

That's not quite true. The EVSE implements the J1772 protocol and negotiates the amount of power to deliver. It's a very simple protocol, but who knows? The GE WattStation was burning the electronics on some special conditions, so why not look at the EVSE models out there as suspects?

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

There's phxsmiley who claims that he was losing 1 GID a day on L2 charging, and stopped losing GIDs on L1 charging. He also said his coworker always charged L1 and never lost capacity. Maybe it's not L1 vs L2, maybe it's two different EVSE that implement the J1772 protocol with some nuance that...

Phoenix and Hot Climate Leafs - Try L1 Charging

When switching from L2 to L1 charging, did you change EVSE? If so, what are the EVSE models you're using? I'm running on a theory that what's destroying the batteries is a combination of factors, and one is the EVSE...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I'm sorry for the confusion. I meant "EVSE" and not "charger" (my bad! ) There are several EVSE models being used: The NISSAN EVSE than came with the car (110V and 220V models), Blink, AeroVironment, etc. If the EVSE and the onboard charger negotiate the power to be delivered. Could...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Hi all! I'm not sure this was discussed in the forum, but there are now so many pages and I'm not sure. My case is... don't you think it might be useful to document in the wiki the charger manufacturer/charging technology? We already know that chargers can damage the electronics, but I think...

    Charging from 80% to 100% -- What's the issue?

The power drops as you approach 100%. I've been monitoring the charging times and the charging power, and from observation I've watched the power drop from the maximum power of 3.7Kw (~240V 16A) to below 3Kw as it nears the end. It's quite obvious that the charging is done carefully when...
