Well, I'm so "old school", I don't even have a cell phone. So, I guess I'd need to buy a "smartphone' in order to do my own diagnostics? If that's the case, I'll just have to stick a piece of black electrical tape over the warning light. Hardly anybody ever sits in the front passenger seat...

Update: I took my 2011 Leaf to the local Nissan dealer (from whom I purchased it new). They said they could not find any problems, so they reset the Supplemental Airbag warning light. The light stayed off. They said the car was ready to be picked up. (They never gave me a cost estimate)...

Hi, Thank you for your response. First, I made a mistake on my original post. The Master Warning light is flashing, and the Sup air bag light is flashing. The first thing I checked was the 12V battery. But, my 12V battery is only 4 months old. shows 12V. I noticed on related posts here...

I still have and love my 2011 Leaf which I purchased new in June 2011. It just turned 50K miles. Today, when I powered up, the Master Warning light began to flash; and a few seconds later the Supplemental Air Bag warning light came on (steady red.) The car runs just fine. I'm a senior...

I've had my 2011 SL since June, 2011; and I've never had to have the wheels aligned. But, with our weather here, I guess we don't have all that many potholes. When driving in the local area, I know where the potholes are, and manage to dodge 'em most of the time. ;) .

Well....I have never replaced the "fuel injector O-rings" on my 2011. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

GEEZ! I'm glad I don't have a 2018. Except for replacing the crappy 12V battery, tires, and the traction battery in July, 2017--(split the cost with Nissan, $3,000 out the door), My 2011 SL has never had any maintenance issues in over 8 yrs/46,000 miles. It seems to perform better as it gets...

But....the cars that dealer is advertising for sale have 4 cylinder engines!

Right on, Sagebrush. Stay away from a Nissan dealer for everything except items covered under warranty. There are much better ways to spend your hard-earned money.

Wow! I hope ( assume) your wife wasn't injured? Looks like a total loss to me. If you were happy with the Leaf, and depending on your driving requirements, another used Leaf would probably be the least expensive if you want to stay with a BEV.

How sad....you buy a new car, and then have to buy and install extra parts??? :roll:

Smells fishy to me. Take "what the guy texts me" with a grain of salt. Get the name/phone number of the Nissan dealer who did the "firmware update". to verify what was done.

AAHH...you should have used Leafspy BEFORE you took the plunge. Since you now own the car, I see no advantage in using Leafspy. Since the car is out of warranty, Drive it, enjoy it, and hope there are no major (expensive) problems looming.

As of today (jan 10, 2019) average gasoline price for 87 octane is still over $3/gal in Ca. :?

FYI, I still drive my good old 2011 SL, going on 8yrs. I had my traction battery replaced (ODO 33,500 mi) in July, 2017. I have Leaf DD. At 80% charge, My SOH is now 78.87--capacity is 56.21. My ODO is now 42,350. I still have 12 bars. Of course, I've babied the heck out of this car since...
