iOS 5 (beta) brings track info over bluetooth audio!

iOS 5, like Windows Phone code named "Mango", adds support for AVRCP 1.3, hence the appearance of song metadata, and ability to control tune playback from the car.

Ghosn : Battery capacity to double within 4-5 years

That growth rate is consistent with a figure tossed out by LG Chem's CEO late last year. Would like to recommend a book I've been enjoying lately, Bottled Lightning: Superbatteries, Electric Cars, and the new Lithium Economy, by Seth Fletcher.

Bluetooth phones not tested by Nissan yet

Your phone doesn't have to be on the list to work; showing up on the list just means Nissan tested that phone and it worked well enough to make their list (which is pretty short right now, though). Bluetooth can be tricky. The SIG is still busy enhancing existing protocols, like AVRCP, and...

Bluetooth phones not tested by Nissan yet

GroundLoop: I don't remember the specifics right now, because my car hasn't come yet (couple more days), but in testing with another's LEAF, I recall there was one LEAF menu path that would connect the phone via HFP only and another path to connect both A2DP/AVRCP and HFP.

Bluetooth phones not tested by Nissan yet

The specific versions of Bluetooth protocols which 2011 LEAF supports are: A2DP 1.2 AVRCP 1.3 HFP 1.0, 1.5 DUN 1.1 OPP 1.1 Most people will care about HFP (hands-free), and A2DP & AVRCP (audio streaming & control protocols).

My ACTUAL Lease dollar amounts & comparison to purchase

If you're leasing, ask your auto insurer to quote you the price of "gap insurance" which pays the difference between the artificially low residual value car companies quote to make lease payments cheaper, and what the car would actually be worth if it were totaled. Or, just keep that much cash...

ICEless in Seattle : Official Pacific NorthWest thread

What does "barely made this route" mean? Did you get to low, very low, or turtle? How hilly was the route? Someone more experienced, like evnow, should chime in on this, but ~48 miles to a low warning is almost exactly what I would have predicted for an 80% SoC with the heater on. The extra...

Windows 7 & If Microsoft made cars...

More often than not issues like this are due to bugs in third-party software or malware. Make sure your antivirus software is up to date (e.g. run "Live update" a few times if you use Symantec's Norton Antivirus) and run a full scan. Microsoft pushes out updates on the same day each month...

11 Leafs in the wild : Seattle Leaf Meet - 2

+1 thanks to Patrick for organizing and thanks to Nissan and Patrick for the shirts! Would be cool to have a group of EVs in the parade...Leafs, Teslas, Matt's Ranger, Cathy's RAV4, Volts, whatever. Maybe someone from PIA or SEVA could track down the Kirkland organizers and pitch the idea...

11 Leafs in the wild : Seattle Leaf Meet - 2

More than doubled the number of cars since the January event, and had a little sunshine too!

Are Leafs on hold at Long Beach or are they being released?

Am in the "hold" boat too, on a "week of April 28" delivery for a VIN 1183 car. Was manufactured on 3/3 and probably arrived on the ship which left Oppama on 3/11. Dealer's system shows HOLD and CS said it should release next week. With its departure date, am thinking I should change the car's...

    TED!

Same, no calibration but have no way to validate the accuracy of the results it's showing me. Andy, wish I had your dryer. Mine's a pig by comparison, even though it was paired with an HE washer.

    Blink outdoor?

The user manual has a caveat that Blink should not be Ethernet attached if installed outdoors.

    TED!

Cool! I had Prime Electric install the MTU side of my new TED when they dropped in the breaker for Blink. Been a real eye-opener. Had no idea how much juice the clothes dryer was sucking. How do you like that LG dryer, Andy? By the way, if you have any flakiness with your TED gateway talking to...

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

Thanks for all the great info! The Marvell processor has an ARM5 core. http://www.marvell.com/products/processors/applications/pxa_family/pxa_27x_emts.pdf

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

Agree it needs a sleep mode or screen saver, if only to avoid LCD burn-in. Would bet full power cycling would shorten Blink life, not extend it. Worse than that would be exposing it to high temperatures for extended periods even though the datasheet quotes a temp rating to 122 F.

Yes, sorry, just noticed that.

    New Firmware Pushed : L2R.1.4A

That would explain it. ECOtality's Blink team should hire you, whoami. ;) Any clue which Wi-Fi silicon they're using in Blink?

Unable to Restart after using AC (was AC causes failure)

Doubt Nissan would go for that. "Bricking" a cell phone or camera with a firmware update is one thing, botching the FW update of a car is another. There are all sorts of strange glitches which can happen when flashing low-level (BIOS/UEFI/OS) firmware. Now if Nissan's done the hard work to...
