    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I had a dealer appointment for service a few weeks ago, but had to work instead and cancelled. I'd better get back there. I don't have the exact date I switched from 80% to 100%, but it was very close to the 4-year mark, so I've been charging continuously at the 100% level now for about 9...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Fred, I also live in the area - Escondido - and have had a 2011 Leaf since May of 2011 with 48K and it just lost the 4th bar a few days ago. Almost identical to your situation. I charged to 80% for the first 4 years and then switched to 100% when the range declined. I am ignorant about...

I want an LG replacement battery!

The LG battery used in the Chevrolet Bolt is next generation technology with a significant step up in performance/cost. How long before they make replacement batteries for 1st generation Leaf's? I want a 150+ mile battery when the time comes for a replacement.

Nissan CEO Ghosn : “Best Battery Maker Is LG Chem"

I just read that Carlos Ghosen said LG has figured out a way to substantially reduce the cost of producing Li-ion batteries while simultaneously increasing the energy density. This is supposedly how GM plans to introduce a 200 mile mile Chevy Bolt for $35K in 2017. He said Nissan needs to stay...

DESPERATE! Need contact to repair EVSE in San Diego!!

I am afraid the cost may be prohibitive. Having a licensed electrician come to your house is outrageous for a homeowner. They charge astronomical amounts and use the "peoples lives are at stake" as a justification. I once had a guy come to my home and install an outlet I needed to plug in a...

DESPERATE! Need contact to repair EVSE in San Diego!!

I went out of town and when I returned the screen was blank and the unit totally dead. I researched here and found I could disable some functionality by unplugging a connector, but that did not work. I checked to be sure it is receiving power and that was fine. I checked the fuse and looked...

DESPERATE! Need contact to repair EVSE in San Diego!!

So I called Blink 3~4 times over the course of the past 3+ months to have my failed Blink EVSE repaired. They keep telling me someone will get back to me and nobody does. Finally, I get a call about a month ago. All I want is a contact in the San Diego (preferably north county) area who can...

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

I had a service call in-place for over 6 weeks now and I finally received a call from someone who said he will call back again to recommend a local technician. Gee thanks! He also mentioned their new model HQ is on-sale for $499 and it includes a $100 "gift card" that can be used against...

Need help diagnosing a failed Blink EVSE

Are you talking about using the existing Blink case and swapping in some parts?

Need help diagnosing a failed Blink EVSE

I looked around inside for signs of anything overheating or loose connections and could not find anything. If there is no other way to narrow it down, I may have to bite the bullet and get a new unit which I need to research. Seems the Open EVSE gets positive remarks here and I think the...

Need help diagnosing a failed Blink EVSE

I'm thinking of repairing my unit myself since service seems to be non-existent. Mine is around 4 years old. When I returned from a recent trip, the screen was blank and unit not working. After searching around here, I tried the disconnection of the blue cables to create a dumb unit, but when...

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

Maybe someone can help me. I was out of town for a few days and when I came home, the display on my Blink unit was blank and the unit was not working at all. I searched this forum, found this thread, and unplugged the two blue wires to create the dumb mode. I plugged the connector into the...

    Miles/Kwh going down

    Interesting. I'll try that.

    Miles/Kwh going down

Sounds like I'll have to wait a while for the tires to catch-up and keep my fingers crossed. BTW, I also suspect lately that my regen is not as strong as it used to be. I always drive in ECO mode. When I take my foot off the throttle, the car doesn't slow as readily or show as many circles on...

    Miles/Kwh going down

The first 30K miles on my Leaf ended with 4.3 miles/Kwh so that was my benchmark. Then I changed tires to Michelin Energy and when I first left the parking lot at Costco, it felt like the car was struggling to overcome the tires. I have 45 lbs of pressure which is at least 5 more than the...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Just joined the 11 bar club and also received the software upgrade letter from Nissan. I rarely charge to 100% (just ask the NSA!) but today was one of those days. I had the 11 bars displayed for capacity, but 12 bars for my charge. Sweet! Like getting something for nothing. Seriously, this...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Yes, some of the factors are controllable while others are not. If time is to be counted, it would be an uncontrollable factor unless it's impact is high enough on the list which might encourage some control of it by driving more.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Now that I'm an official member of the 11 bar club, the issue has piqued my interest. I am not a regular participant here but do subscribe to the Google Alert system which sends me daily messages on any topics around the world related to the Leaf. And I recall an article about the guy in...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Add me to the list of those losing their first bar. 22K, easy driver, perfect climate (San Diego), had the car 25 months, daily driver, only charged to 100% about 30 times. Rather disappointing.
