SPAM from Liquid Sky - WatZilla?

The Email did came from OpenEVSE. Liquid Sky is an OpenEVSE customer, they bought a few dozen boards and some consulting for the UL testing from myself and lincomatic. I do not own any share in the company at all. I thought a UL certified OpenEVSE was worthy of sharing. Due to many requests for...

    Poor SUV

Last night A Full size SUV wanted to show who was boss at a stop light next to our LEAF. As the light turned green he made some noise so I mashed the accelerator. As I shot out I front of him I looked back in the mirror to see a cloud of black smoke coming out of his exhaust. I thought he was a...

Using Tesla charging station with J1772 protocol

This is correct for L2 the only thing Tesla changed is the physical plug, the J1772 protocol is used. On my personal OpenEVSE, I have a Tesla plug chopped off a broken UMC.

GE EVSE One day sale at Home Depot

Its built to be super cheap and you get what you pay for... There are a pair of 30A relay in there on the green board. And the enclosure is an off the shelf Polycase. The relays are the same series used in OpenEVSE builds, we do not typically push them beyond 24A.

    Annual OpenEVSE Steampunk Contest

OpenEVSE would like to announce the first Annual Steampunk Charging Station Build Off. This contest was inspired by an OpenEVSE builder Alex who built a Charging Station around a piece of Telephone test equipment from the 1960s. His project includes a working current meter and LEDs. More info on...

    The Science behind EV chargers

There is much better info at OpenEVSE. The information on that site is all about bypassing the Safety features of the Charging Station. Check oit the Wiki Sections; Theory of operation Basics of J1772 http://code.google.com/p/open-evse/ And the J1772 Presentation in the downloads section.

    Official Southern California Edison thread

Since SCE changed TOU and now they only buy back excess solar generation at $0.10, I figure I might as well use it instead of buying the power back the power later for more... I thought the old rate was good for everyone as it encouraged good behavior, using in the middle of the night when...

    TinyEVSE - $50 240V/30A L2 Charger

I couldn't have said it better myself... OpenEVSE is not perfect, but from day 1 our primary focus has been on safety. We went throigh 4 major revisions before the schematics were released to the public. I do support and encourage all open source efforts but required safety features can not be...

OpenEVSE - Open Source Charging Station

I wrote a little code in python to read the live current from OpenEVSE Via RAPI then upload the data to the Open Energy Monitor website http://emoncms.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Here is my live dashboard with input from OpenEVSE and Open Energy Monitor...

Quick Charge Power - JAMP JR EVSE

The GFCI issue has been improved. The AC test current has been reduced and now works on most standard GFCI outlets. It is still reccomended that Charging Stations have their own non GFCI circhits as the trip point for EV charging is Min 15ma to Max 20ma. A standard GFCI outlet may work but it...

    adjustable 240vac EVSE?

I am working on a similar project with OpenEVSE. I am measuring solar output with Open Energy Monitor and uploading the data to emoncms.org. On OpenEVSE I poll the data and adjust the pilot dynamiclty every 5 seconds to suck up as much solar as possible. Here is an old view of my energy. I...

    EVSE options for 2013+ Leafs

You can expect that to change very soon. I have convinced one of the regular builders here to offer a stock build in addition to the highly modified custom builds he currently offers. Both guys are very talented and the build quality is fantastic. I think there will be plenty of demand for a...

    EVSE options for 2013+ Leafs

I am very sorry you had trouble with your build. If you ever feel like giving it another shot. I will be happy to help you get it working. The examples link is outdated, those were the very first builds back in 2011 and 2012, a lot has changed since then. Google code is about to shut down so...

    EVSE options for 2013+ Leafs

I think the new OpenEVSE enclosures are quite pleasing to the eye. Of course with an open design builders are free to use the parts of their choosing.

OpenEVSE - Open Source Charging Station

There has been a ton or action the last few weeks with OpenEVSE development. The photo above is information from several sources sent to the Open Energy Project server emoncms.org. I currently have implemented: AC voltage (Open Energy node) Current (OpenEVSE) Temperature (OpenEnergy Node)...
