    VinFast

Reviews of this appear to be unanimously--and substantially--negative. Silly things like blinkers not working properly, pedal delay (in some cars only), horrific ride, etc. I wish them luck, but there is absolutely no reason to buy one yet. The company will have to eat billions in loss until...

InsideEVs Apr 2023: "We are not too optimistic about the Leaf."

I just put an order in for a Model 3 RWD. $28500 + dest for a brand new Tesla. In this car market, where only 8% of new vehicles are under $30k (per CNBC article a week back). I've owned two Leafs. Our most recent, a 2020 SV, had an unfortunate collision with a deer. Every bit of front on the...

So, owners what range are you getting ?

2020 Leaf SV. Dash claims 100% battery capacity. I got laughably bad mileage the other night. Here is how it went: Left garage to drive to theater. Watched three hour movie. When we came out it was 15F ambient temps. I looked at the battery temp gauge and it was slightly into the pale blue...

Nissan Ariya to be announced for the JDM July 15, 2020

Quick review of features/price I don’t see how this is competitive with a Mach e. The latter is cheaper and its top trim is a rocket.

ABG: 2022 Nissan Leaf gets big price cuts across the board

The lack of ccs seems like a miss to me. We have a 2020 sv off lease in October buy out around $18k. I had planned on buying out given the state of the car market, although buying a new 22 for $30k with another $9k or so in credits is obviously a better idea if one could be found.

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

Got 17k on our 2020 SV. No issues at all. The winter range is despicable, as expected. 40 miles in cold weather highway driving can take 50% out of the pack. Meanwhile, the stupid range estimate still reports that 50% is good for 70 miles, as if it’s a cool summer evening. Lease up in the fall...

My Grizzl-E EVSE Review: positive !

I put one in three months ago, also with premium cable. Only complaint is main power cable is very short—but it appears to be very short for most chargers. Possibly due to regulation, but I know at least one major brand has a longer one. Anyway no issues. It’s set to 40 amps but my two cars do...

100 thousand miles and still going strong.

Impressive capacity remaining in that battery!

Overhead mechanism to hold charge cable?

Nice. I built something like this. It's been in service for over a month and I'm extremely happy with it. We can now walk under the cable and the end of it has a hook taped onto the cable itself, upon which I can place the charger end. We're now unable to trip over the cable, it reaches across...

Running out of gas coming this summer

    Yep, I didn't know this when I posted :D

Breaker thrown. I wonder what root source of problem was?

I've noticed this on some rare topics over the 20+ years I've been online. Generally speaking one can get a lot of good advice, quickly, on a multitude of topics. But, rarely, some topic will produce weird responses--sometimes from a lot of people. Responses that are inconsistent with what...

Breaker thrown. I wonder what root source of problem was?

So true. I've had this happen more than one when I'm googling a weird error in some code. Invariably the question was from a decade ago and it has answers...but they are wrong.

Running out of gas coming this summer

It's crazy how vulnerable the energy infrastructure really appears to be. imagine if we were engaged in an actual war and it's not just some random hackers testing to see how vulnerable it is (assuming that's what happened over the weekend, but I don't know).

First Impressions of '21 Leaf SV

I never use eco. I like one-pedal drive but don't use it because it constantly throws the brake lights, whereas B-mode, which although not as aggressive with braking, does not. This makes me look less like a spaz to people behind me.

people getting rid of their Leafs/EVs/PHEVs and going back to ICEVs

I had a 2012 Leaf I kept for 18 months on lease, then returned it for a gas car. At the time I liked it except for its range was terrible (particularly in the winter), but I knew if it went up 50-100% I'd do it again. I bought a hybrid avalon a few years later. Last year we got back into EV...

Breaker thrown. I wonder what root source of problem was?

Update, because I wanted to test a bit more first. The black wire had not unseated itself, but when I removed it I saw this. A couple of the strands had fallen out/been ruined when the electrician installed it. Anyway, I snipped off the last 1/4", reattached the wire, and was able to fill 2/3...

Breaker thrown. I wonder what root source of problem was?

I definitely didn’t use paste but I only installed receptacle three months ago. I definitely made it very tight. I had no idea a 14-50 receptacle had to be rated for that or not. I don’t have an amp probe. The electrician was not somebody I want back (was a “get the job done quick” sort of...

Breaker thrown. I wonder what root source of problem was?

It’s not a GFCI breaker. The cable is aluminum. I’ve run a couple more events and at 6.6 kWh rate it goes for about 30 (9% charge last time) min then trips. Surely this means there is good continuity and no catastrophic short or loss of circuit somewhere...? I’ll check continuity... edit...

Breaker thrown. I wonder what root source of problem was?

I have: 50 amp breaker 60 amp-rated wiring 14-50 socket I have attached an EVSE to the socket. The EVSE is rated at 40 amp continuous. I charge at either 3.3 kWh on one car, or 6.6 kWh on my Leaf (max charging rate on the 2020 Leaf SV). Last night I had the Leaf plugged in and it was charging...

Overhead mechanism to hold charge cable?

I wrapped my 120 v cable around my garage door opener hanger which worked well. I recently did decide to install a boom for the 240V since I made this thread and it's been working very, very well :) I put it on a barn door hinge attached to the wall.
