    Replace cabin air filter

I know this has been discussed before, but a nice guy posted this video: http://youtu.be/1poPD69xFY8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I tried it, and the simple exposure made changing the air filter quite easy. Only 10 easy to get to screws, all the same, all self tappers, a few...

extending a lease more than once?

OK, so my paperwork came from NMAC to extend my lease for a year, and I signed it. Interestingly, in the first paragraph they claim they will credit me 2 payments if I sign the extension. We will see how that gets applied.

    Override timer with charge command

Gotcha. Normally what I do is trigger the charge from CarWings when I want to go to 100% the morning I am using the car. Usually I have an hour before leaving, and that is enough. Tomorrow morning I am leaving early, and want to make sure the car is at 100%. Hard to describe the timing. Suffice...

    Override timer with charge command

Leafpals: Love my 2013 SV. I have it set to charge to 80% at 2:30 AM every night. Works great. Tonight I will probably start charging this evening by manual command, which should take the car to 100% as I am driving far tomorrow. If the charge has not reached 100% by the time my timer goes off...

extending a lease more than once?

Another question for this thread... Now that I am going to extend to 3 years from my 2 years, will I now qualify for the California $2500 rebate? If so, that is amazing, since my original lease was less than the 3 year lease with the rebate making it close to break even between the two. If I...

extending a lease more than once?

OK, just got off the phone with NMAC. They are sending me an agreement for a 12 month extension with the same terms. My terms are very good. My original maturity date is 5/27/15. So, that gets me an additional year. Furthermore, the lease at that point is month to month, so I can cancel at any...

extending a lease more than once?

Geez! I would love to do that. My 2013 is up in May after my 2 year lease. I would like to go another 2 on the car, and then get a longer range one in 2017.

Timing of getting my next EV

Interesting! I wonder if I could extend for 2 years! That would be ideal frankly.

Timing of getting my next EV

I will definitely lease, and not buy. Normally I purchase my cars and run them until they are reclaimed by the earth. But these are new technology, and with the battery uncertainty combined with rapidly evolving competition, leasing is for me. Now, the 3 year lease gets you the CA tax rebate...

Timing of getting my next EV

This is probably what I will do. Furthermore, there are a few more cars out there now. I am in California, so we have more EV choices here. I love my Leaf, but I will look at the Kia Soul too. That car looks very nice. Just a bit more range than the Leaf. Not a big issue for me. Now, 150 miles...

Timing of getting my next EV

I believe many have extended for a year.

Timing of getting my next EV

I can easily extend the lease for one more year. I don't think they will extend them for 2 more years. So, if I extend for one more year, then in 2016 I am likely to find that there still does not exist a longer range car. That is the issue. So, that is why I ponder turning in my car to get...

Timing of getting my next EV

This is probably what I will do. Now, regards the $2500 rebate, it actually penciled out better with the 2 year lease when I did it even without that rebate. Total cost of ownership was less. It was odd. So I went for 2 years.

Timing of getting my next EV

My feeling here is that I don't need the latest and greatest. I just want about double the range so that I can go back and forth to San Francisco without needing to charge. If the Leaf can do that in 2017, or another vehicle, then I am happy with that. I would probably still lease even though...

Timing of getting my next EV

Leafpals: Put on your Swami hats and help me read the tea leaves of the future... I have a 2013 SV I love. 14,000 miles, 12 bars. Meets my needs. My 2 year lease is up 5/15. I am anxiously awaiting the longer range EV's such as what Nissan may do, or Tesla 3. Looks like those cars will not be...

Nissan LEAF for 70-mile commute (140 miles roundtrip)

Yes, I understand. I could do that trip with my current car with charging at the workplace without a problem. I drive to San Francisco and back regularly. It is 60 miles one way. I don't even hit low battery warning. About 50 of the miles are freeway.

Nissan LEAF for 70-mile commute (140 miles roundtrip)

Folks experience with this car is so different. I also think the 2011-2012 have had quite a bit of battery degradation depending on temperature etc. My car is a 2013, and I live in nearly ideal climate for the car. I have 14,000 miles on mine, still with 12 bars, but don't know the true capacity...

Nissan LEAF for 70-mile commute (140 miles roundtrip)

It could be done, but it would take some getting used to. You would have to keep your speeds down. My 2013 with 14,000 miles on it would make it easily the way I drive. But you would hit low battery warning every time, which would take some confidence to know what the car will do. Also, climate...

LEAF BRAKE ISSUE - CONTINUES -

OK, this is what I found from the grabby brake thread: SB 2013 LEAF; Brake Pedal Sensitive at Speeds Below 15 MPH Summary of NTB14017: If YOU CONFIRM Customer may experience some brake sensitivity at speeds below 15 mph. The customer may experience this issue while in stop-and-go traffic...

LEAF BRAKE ISSUE - CONTINUES -

Interesting. There was a TSB on this for our model year, and I had it done at the 1 year checkup. It was a substantial improvement, and I would now rate it good. I will have to look for my post on this and see if I can find the bulletin number.
