13 leaf SL flash BIU to S model for stereo upgrade?

I have been looking into swapping stereos in my car. I don’t necessarily need any of the antiquated mapping or charge location features of the factory stereo. The only necessity is to retain the climate timer.

I looked into buying a S model BIU and the part numbers are the same. Does anyone know if re coding is possible?
