Hello,

Im planning to install aux diesel heater (water heater) in my 2012 Leaf. My PTC heater is dead. Wondering, where should I connect aux heater to coolant hoses, should i use inlet and outlet of PTC heater?

Thank You!

As someone who install, repaired and rebuilt Eberspacher coolant heaters, I see a coupla of problems.
They have a MINIMUM coolant system size, and I think the heater loop will be way below the minimum. This at best will cause short cycling, and in worse case will over-heat and lock out.
Another problem is if you try and tie into the whole system, you'll over heat the electronic that are cooled by the coolant.
The Leaf doesn't run anywhere near the temp as internal combustion car in the coolant loop.
These heaters have their own water pump which would likey exceed the flow ability of the heater core.
While I like the idea of a combustion heater, I think in the Leaf's case an air heater would be better suited to the job at hand. More complex to install correctly but better suited.

If you could find a place for a 2 gal tank of coolant, and then separate out the heater you might get it to work.
When I tested repaired heaters I used a 5 gal bucket, and it got hot very quickly.
Still think air heater would be better suited.

i-Miev have PTC antifreeze sistem to.
Benjamin install it.
View all parts and understand how you can use it at Leaf.

As a person who has mounted plenty, too bad he didn't realize he could mount the plate to the car, put the single bolt through the heater and with only 1/4" to 3/8" sticking out, attach to the bracket.
No need to put the heater in without the through bolt, and then try and pass the bolt through heater when it is on the bracket!
The heater and bracket are designed so the notch in the bottom of the heater holds it on the bracket in the correct location for the bolt. Easy-peasey.
I am more concerned where and how he intends to run the fuel system.
NO GRAVITY FEED FROM THE TANK TO THE HEATER. the fuel tank must be below the heater level. There are many reasons for this, but safety is among them! Fuel pump must be facing up.
That heater could have an internal or external (depending on spec number) pump
