  • 2013 SV with no optional packages (no QC)
  • 3/12 bars, high internal resistance warning
  • Pretty solid 25 miles range (normal driving, not hypermiling)
  • 100,100 miles and growing. We continue to drive it every day.
It's really hard to price something like this, so I'll go with Best Offer.
I am located (still) within driving distance from Greentec Auto, who will sell you a new battery pack for $3,999, or a 40Kwh pack for $7,995 (plus installation)
I was considering one of those options, but I ended up buying a Bolt instead.

Ask me questions.

Not in the market, but I'm curious as to the Leaf Spy SOH and the build month (on the driver's side door sticker). I'm gussing it was built before 4/2013.

Just an FYI, at this time, GreenTec does not sell New batteries for the Leaf.

Their Leaf batteries are currently all made up of Degraded/Used cells. Not New.

Congrats on the Bolt. It's a great option for folks who don't do a lot of long distance driving.

Good luck with the sale.

I can't look at the door sticker right now because it is out and about.

As for LeafSpy: AHr=21.78 SOH=33.31% Hx=33.16%

Yes, GreenTec uses batteries salvaged from Leafs. They guarantee 8 bars for 24KWh, and 9 bars for 40/62KWh.

The Bolt is actually.... okaaaaay..... for long trips. Believe me after 6KW max on the leaf (no QC) the Bolt going 20-50KW is quite an improvement. I mean, I get really mad when it goes 20KW (fists in the air yelling "whyyyy?") but that's still an entire G1 Leaf per hour.

CarMax offered $1500 but I'd rather sell it to someone I know will drive 5 miles to work, or will chop it up and make a home power backup or something cool. I have a daily 70 mile drive, so that's why I went with the Bolt. Otherwise I think the GreenTec would be a good deal.

CarMax offered $1500
I think I would have jumped on that. I can't imagine anyone that knows anything about these cars and what 3 bars of range means, would actually pay any more. Heck, I have no idea why CarMax offered even that much. Maybe the appraiser has no clue. I'm having little interest in my 9 bar car myself and that has 60-70 miles range.

I think I would have jumped on that.

I'm leaning that way too... however despite the range issue, and being an "extra" car, we're still putting on about 10,000 miles per year. For about $200 in insurance and $200 in registration. Maybe this works because we have a "Goldilocks" commute. My high schoolers go 6 miles to school and 6 miles back. And with activities they can go 3 or 4 times per day. The car gets home, charges in under an hour (secret benefit of battery degradation) and it's away again.

Maybe I should look at it as a science experiment. Has anyone gone to 1 bar while still driving it? What happens at zero bars? Does it just stop working?

How? To whom? I can't even get $3,000 for my 9 bar car. Maybe I need to advertise in Charlotte.
Facebook Marketplace. A couple with one car. Needed a second car to commute 6 miles to a new job. Used to own a Leaf and understands about EVs. Probably the unicorniest Leaf buyer ever. Keep praying and don't give up. Your Leaf and Insight both look amazing.
