Searching for these terms does not yield any results for the components. I know i am missing something - I'd love some advice on finding out the right diodes to use as replacement.

Thanks!

The first thing to do is measure the size and determine the package; these are 2.5x1.25mm, which is the SOD-323 package.

i don't know why they are using 2 different devices in parallel except maybe to add redundancy for a single string failure. Without knowing why they fail it's difficult to make a selection, but this one will work so just use 2 until someone knows better.

The diode marked "271" may be a Renessas HZU27L-1 25V zener, but the datasheet indicates it is obsolete and for some reason couldn't find a vendor. This one is probably close enough.

Hi @nlspace !

Thank you so much for your help. Since our last chat, the following has happened:

  • I ordered parts and a new iron. Opted for the pinecil with the fine tips. I highly recommend them for the smd repair and the tight space for the ceramic resistor repair. I highly recommend solder paste and iron for the diodes.
  • I realized that there was something wrong with my meter (and even someone else's meters). I realized that when even the new diodes didn't pass the diode test. This means I have no faith that the original test was true, hence not really sure that the diodes D547 pair were bad at all. My theory based on lose research is that a regular meter doesn't detect the diodes well because they are schottky diodes? Not fully sure what that means though
  • However since I got the parts, I replaced the pair anyway
  • I tested the first of the two blown OBC with both the boards repaired (top and bottom): the first charge was successful
  • I then proceeded to repair the second OBC (both boards): multiple charges have been successful
In summary: thanks for your help and the others around the forum. Because of your advice, I was able to revive a pretty decent old leaf and have an extra charger for another broken one.

If anyone is interested in getting the boards, I'm happy to sell the boards or even exchange for a lower price. Or if someone found this post, is in the new England region and wants to sell their leaf with a broken OBC I might be interested.
