I wonder what the wear-and-tear would be on ICE if you ran them dry every cycle 24/7, as EV batteries are tested.
If you kept running the gas tank dry you would be replacing a lot of fuel pumps. I doubt it would be good for the fuel injectors either.

Many ICE manufacturers tout endurance testing where they say something like "The new XXX was driven for 150,000 miles on our test track." They're obviously not taking 10-15 years to do that like a typical owner might, so the vehicles must be driven relatively continuously. It would be interesting to see what sort of fueling, maintenance, and tire rotation/change schedules they use for that sort of testing.
