I have not tried the adapter without the powerbank (since I'm collecting data)...
DJ, does the latest firmware allow using the adapter without external power for you?
I've been mad busy lately, I was finally able to log some data files. I plan to give these to Patrick to see if it's any good. These are from a properly working session. I haven't moved over to the new firmware just yet. Over the weekend I was able to test with a Ford Charge dispenser (Power Electronics).

How are you guys contacting Accraine to report these things? A message to [email protected] bounced for me last night with "No Such User Here". I don't see any other addresses on their site.

.... edited to add: also, how are you generating the log files? Does your computer just treat the adapter as a USB storage device you can drag files from, or is there something like a dedicated program needed?

I haven't reached out to Patrick lately, but the way I was told is to use a power bank for best results. It will write three files to a FAT32 formatted USB. No dedicated program is needed. I've tried using a laptop as a power source but it never worked that way.

Gathering logs requires having an empty USB-a drive and a powerbank plugged into the adapter during a session via a usb 3.0 OTG splitter. After the session completes and everything is disconnected, the logs should be present on the drive.

The data in the logs is not plaintext, so not much can be gleaned by mere mortals.

Ah well. What this is about: the first time the adapter would have been of real practical help, as opposed to my just testing it at leisure, was Thursday night at a Blink station in a Ford dealership.

This was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a town normally with two chademo stations but both are now out of order.

I downloaded the Blink app, prepaid their $20, then found out the adapter wouldn't negotiate a session. The Blink unit's screen acknowledged being connected to a car, the adapter's little green LED glowed for a moment, flashed a few times and then went dark, then the app said there was an error and asked me to try again. Which I did a couple of times before moving to the next pump, same result.

Plugshare showed numerous CCS stations in the area, but most at car dealerships belonging to that same family and very possibly all set up using the same chargers. It was getting late so rather than sift through those, or try a Tesla shop, I opted to drive 25 miles to a known good Chargepoint in Coralville; arrived there at 9% SOC, got juiced up and made it home.

To sum up, I guess I cannot recommend Leaf drivers visiting Cedar Rapids right now.

have noticed that most or maybe all of the nissan dealers in my area (pnw) have several chargers available if not being used to charge their new cars. Often have same experience of chadmo's being out of order & other whips not working as well. so much for the electric hwy! have a tesla adaptor which was included in a used leaf i purchased, have had no luck using it to charge-any suggestions??

Would you sell the Tesla/CHAdeMO adapter?

I've not seen those dispensers before.
I just found another Blink charger of that type, and closer to home. Went there armed with the USB paraphernalia to gather debugging information, but it ended up working for me without an issue. At least, I think it's the same charger. It's in a black and silver case instead of white, but the screen and buttons, and the vertical LED bars, all appear to be the same.

The adapter saved the day:

Yesterday in the wee hours, I found myself on the Ohio Turnpike with 100 miles to go and 25 miles range remaining in the battery.

The EA stations at the service plaza had a single non-functional chademo dispenser. and five working CCS1.

The adapter worked flawlessly. I still need to use external power with a usb cable, but I got a good charge and a good nap just when I needed both.

Not recently... I've been buried in preparations for a trade show in Chicago. Now that the show's over, I'll be able to test and reach out to Accraine.

I was very relieved to see the adapter working in a real-life time of need.
