I took the Kempower off my list when it wasn't working, and forgot about it existing.

It seems to be back in service, so I'll try to check it out.

This is the only one I've seen in the US, so far.

No progress yet on the Flying J Delta stations I suppose?

Not yet. Rick the Nomadic Hippie has delayed his road trip and I haven't got the latest firmware.

I did have an issue recently using my adapter at an EA station and a Chargepoint, but I haven't had the time to repeat the test to validate good or not.

I ask because one has finally popped up on a stretch of Iowa highway I sometimes travel. Probably no big deal if I go there and find it's not usable, since there's an EA station less than ten miles down the road.
Cool avatar. (So very off topic)
I got ripped in “zippy the pinheaded” once. Apparently the sculpture in the front garden out side my house was one of the cartoonists favorites. I hated the thing and gave it to the guy who regraded the driveway surrounding it when i bought the place. I named it “small boy molesting a fish”

That is an important question, right? As i take it that the CCS adaptor is not locked at all in the charging process and thus vulnerable for theft ?

This is a possibility, but might be unlikely...

Only another Chademo owner could use it, and theft for resale could be easily prosecuted: they have serial numbers. (e.g if mine were stolen, I'd post it here and watch the public resale sites (ebay, fb marketplace, etc.) for a resale offering and report the seller if the unit appears stolen.

Just swapped my 2017 LEAF for a new 2025 SV Plus and reading the warranty made me wonder. Is there any word from Nissan if the adapter is considered “approved” charging equipment? I just got my adapter two days ago and haven’t had a chance to try it yet. It would be pretty silly of Nissan not to approve it. I would not have bought a new LEAF without this adapter being available.

I take it this is about CHAdeMo and ccs1. Could you be more specific please?

I bought my Leaf 3 years ago hoping a CCS->CHAdeMO adapter would become available and I was thinking that I blew it start of 2024 until 2 adapters became available in Q2. I have the A2ZEV adapter and the relief of being able to charge anywhere is huge. I doubt it will be approved by Nissan but I waited 6 months, reports were good on both adapters, so I purchased mine. It would be nice to see Nissan buy the electronics and build it into the car. No firmware development or approvals for them to support CCS. But 2025 is (I believe) the last MY Leaf so I don't expect anything to be done.

Which A2ZEV adapter do you have?

New video from Nomadic Hippie:

I guess that is the question I was trying to ask last week. If the NACS > CCS > Leaf daisy chain works, I wonder if the CCS part can be eliminated and there just be a NACS > Leaf adapter. In the long run, wont CCS go the way of Chademo anyway?

The answer is yes but one of the 2 adapter companies has to change their CCS connector to an NACS connector. I see no motivation for them to do this since right now public CCS DC chargers far outnumber NACS chargers. It will be a long time before EVs on the road with NACS outnumber those with CCS. Besides, the market for CCS to CHAdeMO is tiny and I'm sure both companies are hoping to get a return on their investment for these adapters and not add more development for an even smaller market.

I suspect the electronics of DC charging using NACS is very like CCS, so the modification to use NACS will be hardly any worse than that between the CCS1 and CCS2 versions of the CHAdeMO adapters.

Still hoping or waiting for the CCS2 adaptor price to drop a little. Here in the UK (and elsewhere in CCS2-land, all of Europe) there will not be any takeover by NACS, because it can't cover 3-phase AC charging. Type 2 for AC and CCS2 for DC charging are required by law for new car models and will be in use for the foreseeable future. NACS does look neat and compact, though.

You're right, there's no modification in the electrical design but the cost of a plastic mold to make the adapter for a much smaller market of NACS to CHAdeMO is the barrier in my view. Especially since most NACS to CCS1 adapters are less than $200US and already shown to work with existing CCS to CHAdeMO adapters. My guess is if either company were to make a NACS to CHAdeMO adapter it would be more more expensive than the CCS to CHAdeMO adapter because of the added plastic housing development. If it was $200 more you wouldn't purchase it - you'd get 2 of the existing adapters, right?

For really small batches you can 3d print. It’s not quite as good, but it could be done for less than $200 a pop. More but not a ton more. They probably already have one for prototyping. If not just call shapeways or some equivalent, tell em how many you want, and send em the file. This can be solved with a few emails and a website update.
