Any way to add back the 80% battery charge stop option to 2015 Leaf?

I have a 2015 Leaf and am tired of trying to "guess" how much to set my charge timer to manually. It is also a pain in the rear to have to manually set it each time via the push buttons on the dash (I have the bare bones S model). I know Nissan has pretty much abandoned first gen Leaf owners but wondered if there is some way to hack the firmware and add the 80% charge feature back? Is there any way to add a aftermarket controller or timer to a Leaf so you can monitor it with a phone or Bluetooth? I know Carwings (which I don't have) was updated a few years ago but I never had it in the first place.

Would the leadspy pro do that? I have the top model so use the internal computer to set and forget, but perhaps the app can do it automatically?

For my average driving 1.5 hours of level 2 charging brings the charge to between 70 and 80%, so that is what I have timer 1 set to and occasionally have to up the time or skip a day. I don’t worry if occasionally it charges to 85%.

Why did they remove this feature??? Best alternative is to set the charging timer for say 4 hours later than you’re going to leave. That way you charge off peak too.

Dala's CAN-bridge does this (actually allows for lots of SOC settings), but I wouldn't recommend installing it unless you were doing a battery upgrade. At this point, I suspect your battery pack has degraded to the point where it doesn't really matter if you charge to 100%.

OVMS (Open Vehicle Monitoring System) has this feature; I used it last night to set my charge limit to 90%.

It's a module that plugs into the OBDII port and gives you remote monitoring and control. The data from the 4G cell modem costs me ~$3/month.
Whereabouts did you enable the 90% limit? I got mine installed a few fews ago and works great but I'm sure I'm only scratching the surface of the features.

Installing a CAN Bridge with Dala's software on it would bring that feature back.

As well as a few more features.

In the app located here:

This will require CAN writes to have been enabled in the embedded web server. If you can remotely turn on/off HVAC, lock doors, start/stop charging then you already have CAN writes enabled.

The EPA decided that owners were too stupid to understand the difference between 80% "long life mode on" and 100% "long life mode off"and told Nissan that the range estimate on the Monroney sticker would be reduced to reflect an average of those charge states, so Nissan eliminated the 80% "Long Life" feature. At least that's the story I heard.

I've also read that Nissan could have got around it by renaming it "Hiil Mode" and explaining that it was for limiting charging if you were parked to charge on top of a mountain, and wanted to save 20% of the capacity for regenerative braking on the way down to keep the friction brakes cool. Supposedly another manufacturer (GM) did that. I don't know if any part of this story is really true!
