Newbie Leaf owner here, old hand at electric. (In the early 90s I GC'd my own 3K sq ft home, did all electric electrical work starting with the 400A meter panel to the last outlet.) After lots of research, I now have a Hubbell connected with 4 feet of #6 THHN to a 40A CFCI, all in metal. I wondered about the actual draw and happened to have a clamp-on amp meter which has sat untouched in my tool chest for over a decade. With my new SV Plus charging on the manufacturer provided EVSE, I'm measuring only 22 amps. I'm not sure what the SOC was when I started measuring, pretty sure it was below 30%. Mileage on the car was under 1K at the time.

My aftermarket EVSE consistently draws 27.5A, measured at the service panel and displayed on the EVSE.

The current will begin to taper down around the 95% point as the charger completes its cycle.

was it near the end of charge when the amps are lowered?

I'm seeing 6,600 watts or ~27 amps at full charge current measured on my whole home energy sensor.
