Hi,

Recently, I found a Nissan Leaf battery supplier in China. The price is reasonable but you have to DIY (Plug and Play swapping battery)

Info is below:-

Helen Mao
VIVNE China
WhatsAPP: +86 18717786639
Address: Dingsheng Automobile city, Jinsong Avenue, Xinjiangkou town, Songzi City, Hubei, China, 434200.
https://www.vivnevs.com/

They sell batties only ( you will have to swap the battery cells on your own) and they sell complete battery pack (Plug and Play)

They are using CATL cells (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited is the biggest battery manufacturer in China) to build the battery pack.

Not directly related, but I cant find the general replacement battery thread (coffee hasnt kicked in yet), and I wanted to post this whilst my fried memory lets me remember.

I was browsing Ali Express late last night, and there are several sellers of CATL battery packs for the Leaf up on the site, that werent there a month ago; 63KWh pack for about £6500, although that doesnt include tax; I dont know what the shipping costs might be.

One seller, offering packs of various capacity, lists the weight of each pack, so you can compare to your existing pack.

Sorry, I forgot to save a link to the results page - if AE says not found, keep trying to search, I get this regularly on stuff I was browsing mere minutes before.

I got my 50kwh plug and play from them. Glad with their battery. Less than half price as my Nissan dealer offered me, but with double range. They also did real crash test. Their screw fixing is reassuring, as I know some third-parties are fixed by glue.

Just looking I find a conundrum in their posted spec's
Std discharged current 270A ????
Max discharge current 67.5 A ????
1st doesn't seam likely
2nd is less than the car can and will draw.
Then they claim OEM???
Nothing adds up as being correct.

Images looks like stolen from EVs Enhanced blade battery https://evsenhanced.com/aftermarket-battery/
Thanks Ladislav, I suspect they are stolen pictures. And they dont list the owners of the company on the website. Couple red flags. They offer 50% down payment and 50% after successful installation, which is favorable. No US buyers in the USA. Still, its tempting to take a chance. I suspect I have a buyers bias. Hoping someone could share positive experience with this seller.

Thanks Cornbinder, I didn't realize those specs are off. Below is the current investigation. I cant decide if its legitimate and I should take a chance or if its a scam. Price is the best I have found and want to give this company a chance. Any further questions I should ask would be appreciated.
Questions from me

  1. Battery: From your website, you show a picture of EV Enhanced 16 blade modules. Is this 62kwh battery EV Enhanced modules with thermal management?
  2. Recall: There is currently a recall of the 62 KWH battery pack from Nissan due to potential battery overheating issues during level 3 charging. Is this battery part of that recall (R24B2)?
  3. Physical fit: Will this battery fit in a 2013 Leaf directly or are there additional shims that need to be purchased to get it to fit in a 2013 AZEO Leaf?
  4. Electrical function: Does this battery come with proper BMS, transfer plugs and flashed to allow it to be used in a 2013 AZEO 2013 vehicle?
  5. Weight: Your site quotes 410 KG. Is that the weight of battery alone or shipping weight?
  6. Additional parts: Are there other items that need to be purchased to plug and play this battery?
  7. Instructions: Does the battery come with instructions on how to make it function, with a 2013 AZEO Leaf?
  8. References: Have others installed this battery in a 2013 Leaf? If so, do you have reference you can share?
  9. Is this 62 KWH battery is identical in size to the 24 KWH oem battery. Is that correct?
  10. I live in the USA. Is there a list of people who have purchased your product and whom I can chat with?
  11. How do I arrange to get money to you? I would like to put a deposit down, and pay the rest once received, unless you have evidence of successful shipments to USA.

Answers from JPN parts:

I don't trust them. Safer is from Alibaba with review from forum guys

Several red flags, ignore them at your own peril:
Stolen pic of EV enhanced blade battery
spec's mixed up/out of order
Never explained #1
Everybody wants the cheap unicorn, but unless you have the cash to throw away to prove us wrong, I would avoid.

That 50% is probably gone forever. Don't buy without any guarantee as Alibaba alwsys offers.

Definitely stolen pictures. EV Enhanced are in my city and did not get this battery project to marketable status (yet). They will be unrelated / unaware of the scammy Malaysian seller.

I would not buy a 62kwh battery due to weight. You need new suspension springs.

The 40kwh they list, if legit is what I have been hoping for at $3400 + shipping. Price is justifiable to save my 2015 SV, 72mile range, 45,000 miles on OD, from scrap. Then you have old pack that had residential value, sell, or could make a solar power project with the pack.

As far as 24 to 40 kwh plug and reflash I don't think those are too costly. Would want to do work myself, so need kit, drop in solution with instructions.

I was quoted something like $14000 for replacing my 24kwh for a used 40kwh battery (garentee 80% capacity). They also keep your old pack, which has residual value.

That is not going to happen. Not economically feasible. If these new packs were available. I would think some company would import these and swap them out for profit. All the swaps I found are used packs.

Good luck. Let us know. There are so many first Gen LEAF in great physical condition that deserve a new lease on life. My 2015 SV with 45,000 miles is in great shape. They were built solid. Besides one set of new tires, I just put in 2nd 12v battery.

150 mi range would make my LEAF a keeper and way more useful. As a second car I don't rely on it for other than local errands. 150 mi range some longer trips I do occasionally.

I purchased a 63kwh upgrade kit from yaste on alibaba Jan 20. All 24 batteries and the parts needed to install arrived at my house in Los Angeles yesterday. Shipped fast imho. Unloaded pallet. Everything looks good so far. Will probably get around to removing the battery in 2-3 weeks from now. Will update the thread
