Impressive what only~134 HP can do in a lightweight vehicle.

I'd love to have ~the same HP/kW and a ~24 kWh battery pack, in a street legal < 2,000 lb. aero-efficient two-seat BEV.

It'd take a few more seconds to get to 100 km/h, but could still give 150-200 miles between DC charges.

Stuttgart's student-led GreenTeam clocks a 1.779 at JadeWeser Airport

...Students from the University of Stuttgart furthered that point this week by setting a new (unofficial) world record for the 0-100-km/h sprint.

The GreenTeam Formula students logged a time of 1.779 seconds in a proper two-way run. Driver Priska Schmid set the time at JadeWeser Airport in northern Germany. The previous record, owned by students in Zurich, was at 1.785 seconds.

The all-wheel-drive, open-wheel record setter has a 134-hp electric motor with a 6.62-kwh battery pack. It weighs in at just 352.7 pounds, leading to a power-to-weight ratio of 2.63 pounds per horse. That’s better than both the Bugatti Veyron and Porsche 918 Spyder.

The folks from Guinness World Records will confirm the time in a few weeks.

Thanks! That's very impressive!

I'm guessing this would be a world record for electric vehicles since top-fuel dragsters get to 100 km/h in much less than one second.

Here's a street-legal car with 0-60 MPH times of 1 second:

It gets 5 MPG...
